This past month (well still is) I don't have internet at home. Thus the idled blog. I have decided that I will also cut off my use of internet in the future as well. It is just way too time wasting. So after I move (yes, I will be moving at the end of this month) I think I will continue with this new offline life style. I will still be using the internet off course, but I'll be using it only at school. So yea, I think I will rest a bit for blogging. How long? I am not sure.

過去的這個月（嗯。。過去的幾個禮拜）家裡沒有網路，所以部落格完全沒有更新。我也同時決定以後也會按照這樣的無網路方式繼續下去。網路真的太浪費時間了阿！所以，一月底搬家後（是，我又要搬了）我會繼續這樣的生活方式。我還是會用網路，但是只又在學校時間才用。所以，我想部落格就先暫停吧。暫停多久？我也不清楚。

twins 雙包胎

when we were little, we were often mistaken as twins, me and my brother. Of course, we didn't like the sound of that. We'd often say, "no, I don't look like my brother".
小時候的時候，常常有人以為我們是雙胞胎，弟弟與我。當然，我們並不喜歡聽到別人這樣說。「我長得哪像我弟阿？！」小時候我們常這樣想。

As we grew up, we developed our own personality and now quite often people don't know that we are related. To tell you the truth, I still have a feeling that we look alike. (I've friends that have never met my brother in person but have seen pictures that said we looked alike) I think it is because the aura that we give people are quite different.
隨著我們長大，我們的個性也漸漸成形，現在竟然常有人很驚訝我們是兄弟。但，老實說，我還是覺得我們長得像。（我有沒見我我第，但在照片上看過的朋友說過我們長得很像。）我想大概因為我們給大家的感覺非常不一樣吧？

Anyways, I was quite surprised this past fall when he got the same jacket that I bought a month ago. Different colour of course.
總之，我前一陣子到非常驚訝。因為弟弟竟然買了件跟我一模一樣的冬天夾克！當然，顏色不一樣就是了。

the meaning of Christmas 聖誕意義

As I have mentioned before, Christmas this year is a little deserted. In contrast however, I have realized the importance of celebrating the baby’s birthday. In the past, Christmas symbolizes presents, holiday, and family gathering. The baby, wasn’t really something that I looked forward to. However, this year, missing so many elements, actually made us realize the true meaning of this holiday.

And here is the annual Christmas e-card that I send out every year since 2005.

就像之前所說的，今年的聖誕節比較冷清。但相對的，我也更深的體會到，聖誕節是在慶祝一個嬰兒的降生。以前的我一想到聖誕節就是禮物，休假，家庭聚會，信仰，似乎並不是我所期待的。今年，少了許多元素，讓我發重新體會此節慶的真正意義。

A guys' Christmas男士聖誕

Arrived in Calgary on Friday. Weather was not too bad actually, still bearable. Daytime, it is about -10C and at night it is about -20C. This was taken just this morning through our kitchen window. Quite spectacular actually. As my mom puts it, "it's like narnia". ahhaahah
(by the way, went to see narnia with a friend the other day. Not so impressive.)

禮拜五剛到卡加利。天氣還不差，可以忍受。白天時大約零下十度，晚上大約零下二十。這是今天早上在家中廚房拍的照片。蠻漂亮的喔！今年絕對又會是一個銀色聖誕。

Not sure what is gonna happen this Christmas. Because mom isn't here, so there are no Christmas potlucks happening at home and we are too lazy to put up the Christmas tree and lights. I don't feel much Christmas presence unfortunately.

倒是不知道今年聖誕節到底要做啥。因為媽媽不在，今年也不會有聖誕聚餐，而我們男生們也太懶得去裝飾聖誕樹。今年沒有聖誕氣息勒，好可惜。

mid point presentation 期中報告

Apologies for not updating in a while. Extremely busy this past little while due to our mid point grad presentation.
好久沒有更新部落格啦。最近因為趕期中報告，真的忙的不得了。

Emily Carr University, Industrial Design 4th year grad mid point presentation begins on December 14th.
愛美麗卡大學，工業設計系，四年級畢業作期中報告將在十二月十四展開。

My presentation will be on the 15th at 9.50AM, everyone is welcome! (well, who am I saying this to? the people who read this blog probably can’t make it anyways)
本人的畢業作報告在十五號的早上九點五十分舉行，歡迎前往。（這是說給誰聽的阿？讀我部落格的人大概根本都沒法來吧？）

Anyways, due to this presentation I haven’t been sleeping very well. This is a very formal presentation, with industry professionals, faculty members as well as all the students from this faculty. So I am a little stressed.
總之，就因為忙這報告，搞的我最近睡眠不佳。這是個非常正式的報告。將會有業界人士，以及相關老師，還有係上的所有學生（包含低年級）前來參觀。所以壓力是真的不小。

Anyways, my presentation is on wed. and after that I have one more day of class then I head home! Very unfortunately that mom won’t be joining us this Christmas. She is currently in Shanghai because grandma is getting quite sick and seems to be going very soon. She won’t be back until the end of Jan.
我禮拜三畢業作要報告，之後再上一天的課就可以回家啦！但很可惜媽媽這次不會跟我們一起過聖誕。因為外婆病危，所以一個半月前媽媽已經前往上海了，現在是打算一月底才會回來。唉阿！真的是很可惜。

In about a month’s time I will be flying to Calgary for my Christmas holiday! I am really looking forward to it right now, really can’t wait. This year has been extremely busy so far because of the grad project. For the project, I have decided to do a line of packaging designs. I am designing 4 packaging (this is the field that I would like to get into) so it is a lot of extra work. (I am designing packaging for: a CD album, miso, a cellphone and a ring)
再過一個月就要回卡加利過聖誕節啦！真的好期待。今年因為畢業作的關係，忙的不得了。最主要也是因為我的畢業作是一系列的包裝設計（我以後想進包裝設計），所以等於是我一次在進行四個projects。（我的畢業作要做四個包裝設計。CD，味噌，手機以及戒指）

Working on 4 projects at a times means I have to manage my time very very well. My current arrangement is like this: 4 projects individually separated into 4 days. Essentially in a week, I have 4 days dedicated to my grad project and the other 2 for other classes (sundays I rest). 4 days out of 7 I am working on this grad project, that obviously doesn’t sound very exciting. A lot of times I am really tempted to just procrastinate and take a break. So when I woke up today and saw the snow, my first thought was, Christmas! Although there is still a month left, it is what keeps me going. Eye on the prize, eye on the prize!

一次做四個projects所以我的時間管理必須得做的非常好。目前的方法是，四個project，分四天做。所以等於一個禮拜有四天在做畢業作，其餘的兩天（禮拜天休息）忙其他課的功課。但相對的一個禮拜有四天都在做畢業作，也是會有點煩的。有的時候真的很想偷懶，休息休息。所以當今天早上起來看到雪時，第一個反應就是，聖誕節！雖然還有一個月，但這是現在我堅持下去的動力啦。

This year our winter break extends until Jan. 10th! Can’t believe this! a 3 weeks break! So nice!
今年寒假竟然放到一月十號！三個禮拜的假勒！我們學校今年怎麼這麼好？！阿，總之，為我加油吧！

Passion 2010

After 2 years, Passion World Tour finally stopped in Vancouver again this November for a night of praise and worship. Same as last time, main groups are Chris Tomlin and David Crowder Band along with two other new artists. Last time I had such a transforming experience so I made sure I was gonna make the most out of it this time as well. I began listening to the Passion album online since mid Oct. so that I could sing along at the concert! : D

經過了兩年，Passion這次全球巡迴再次來到溫哥華舉辦敬拜讚美演唱會。今年仍然是Chris Tomlin以及David Crowder Band 主領，外加兩位新人。上次的經驗實在是太棒了，我為了也想要一起唱唱跳跳敬拜，特別在演唱會前幾個禮拜就開始在網路上聽他們的CD！所以這次參加全部的歌我都而熟能詳！哈哈哈。

As usual, Chris Tomlin was amazing at leading worship. My favorite song from him was Chosen Generation. David Crowder Band again was the band that takes the 2nd half of the night with a series of upbeat music that definitely brought the concert to the climax. There was this song called “Like A Lion” that I really liked. However, there was one part that got me a little confused this year. After David Crowder Band got on stage, their 2nd song “You are my joy” was slightly out of place with an extremely weird instrumental section. One do have to acknowledge though, David Crowder Band has always been known for their interesting tunes, so I am not surprised by the song. However I am surprised that they would include this song on the list. I think the whole crowd was a bit in shock, and I think a lot of people felt a little uncomfortable. It’s not that the song was bad, its just not appropriate for a worship concert.

Passion CD

Chris Tomlin 如同往常敬拜一流，最喜歡他的那首chosen generation。而David Crowder Band仍然算是炒氣氛的後半段樂團。今年有一首歌很好聽叫like a lion（如同獅子）。倒是今年David Crowder band上場後表演的第二首歌讓大家都非常不解。必須前提的事，David Crowder Band是以奇異的曲風為特色的。那第二首You are my joy的歌真的不適合帶敬拜。中間間奏的部份，我的天，全場大概都傻掉了吧？真的是太奇怪的音樂了，相信很多人應該覺得有點不舒服。其實我認為並不是歌不好，只是表演場所錯誤罷了。

Anyways, this year, surprisingly, three thousand more people showed up compared to last year! reaching an unbelievable attendance of eleven thousand. Praise God! Who says Vancouver is spiritually dry? God is in the move in Vancouver! Thank you Passion for encouraging us to worship on top of our lungs and using our hands and feet!

總之，今年參加敬拜晚會的人數比兩年前還多三千人！到達一萬九百人的數字！感謝上帝！誰說溫哥華是屬靈疲乏的城市？耶穌仍然在此大大的運行！謝謝Passion再次鼓勵大家全心全意跳跳叫叫敬拜我們的神！

Halloween Carnival

Our church had this Carnival event for the kids in the neighborhood during Halloween. And they needed a photographer. So there I was taking picture of these little kids! So cute! However I don't think I can upload it here without their permission. So I've only uploaded the volunteer pictures. It was a huge event! We had at least 40 volunteers?

萬聖節那幾天我們教會為了社區的鄰居們辦了個園遊會。他們剛好需要有個人照相，所以我就去幫忙啦。好多打扮的好可愛的小朋友阿！但我想必須要經過父母的同意才可上傳那些照片，所以這裡我也就只上傳當天的義工照片。超大的活動的！我們至少有五十多為義工來幫忙！

I first saw the trailer a few months ago and actually thought it was fake.
“A movie about Facebook?! I thought you only do a documentary when the person is dead? Why do we need a film about facebook right now?”
Well, after it came out, surprisingly, it got some pretty good reviews, so I decided to check it out as well.

好幾個月前看到預告片時還以為是假的。
「Facebook（臉書）才流行那麼幾年，竟然就要拍影片？！不是人死後才拍這種紀錄片嗎？為啥現在就出現關於臉書的電影？」
直到出來後，影評絕佳，才決定也去看。

And, I would also recommend it if you asked me. It is a film that will make you think. There are no great messages/themes in the movie nor an amazing story line, but because this is a current event, it just happened not long ago, it makes this movie ever more interesting. After watching this movie, the viewer would understand what the founder of Facebook went through a few years ago.

Social Network也是我會推薦朋友的一部好片。看完後是會讓人深思的一部戲。雖然電影裡沒有什麼大道理，也沒有什麼勁爆的情結，但因為這是時事，就在前沒多久發生的事情，讓觀眾了解到這位Facebook的創辦人，前幾年經歷的風波。

“I was right for quitting facebook!” That was my immediate thought after watching the movie. There was no message to this movie, it felt like it wanted the viewers to decide for themselves what they wanted to take out of it. And I think this probably was one of the first current event movies from Hollywood? (besides documentary, this is the only one I know) I actually thought this was a very relevant and important topic. Bringing the problem to the screens and by story telling, it invites the viewer to rethink and question their actions. This can be very transforming. I think for the people who have seen this film, when they go on Facebook now, it would make them question the social media once again.

看完後第一個反應就是，「我離開臉書是正確的選擇」。這部片沒有忠告，感覺就是讓觀眾自己去決定要如何看待臉書這個社交網站。我想這也是好萊塢近代第一部以時事為題材的電影吧？（非紀錄片的話我只知道這一部）其實我認為這是非常重要的題材。把時事問題帶到大螢幕前，以說故事的方式邀請觀眾重新檢討自己的行為，這可以有效的改變思想甚至行為。相信看過這部片的觀眾，今後上臉書網站時必定會重新思考此社交網站。

Update 近況

My desk at school. 本人學校桌子。

School has began for a month aready, time flies. Although I am only taking 4 classes (usually 6), somehow I am still very busy. Like this past thanksgiving weekend, I literally had no break. Way too much homework that was due after the weekend.
開學一個月已經過去了，好快。雖然這學期只有上四堂課（通常是六堂）但還是蠻忙的勒！過去的這個感恩節週末，雖然多放一天假，但老師也趁機給了我們一大堆功課，變得我也沒法好好享受。

However! there are some good news! I guess after taking a break from school for 9 months, I have matured as well? I find that I have a more mature perspective on things. And the biggest change that I have noticed was the fact that I could now do my homework at school! Yes I know this sounds ridiculous, but for the past 4 years, I have always felt a lot of pressure or anxiety if I had to work at school after classes. Every time as soon as class ended, I head straight home. I needed to get out of the building. If I had to stay after, then I needed to know before hand. If I did not know, and it was spontaneous, I would be quite upset. But now, not ANYMORE! Some times I even intentionally stay a bit longer so I can hang out with some friends.

但，倒是今年上學有很大的不一樣。經過九個月的休息，再次回到學校，感覺又有成長，對事情都有新的看法。我發現最大的不同則是我現在可以在學校作功課了！我可以在學校待到很晚也不會感到有壓力或急躁！在過去的四年裡，每次只要一下課我就立刻回家。在學校多待一點我都會感到不自在，感覺有壓力。下課後要留下來作功課的話除非事先約好，要不然我真的會很不高興。而現在竟然完全不會！！我有的時候還刻意多留一下跟朋友聊聊天！

New place 新住處

ok! once again a new place for the new year. This time I have moved to east Vancouver, near VCC. First time living in the east and first time living by a busy road.
好啦，又是新住處～每年搬一次。今年搬到溫哥華東區！離VCC（Vancouver community college)非常近。第一次住東區，也是第一次住在大馬路旁邊。

Judging by the location and the condition of the place, I would say I scored big time with this new place. $530/month, includes utilities, internet and TV! A 2 bedroom apartment on the first floor. Originally I thought, “since the price is cheap, the condition must not be very good”. To my surprise though, the landlady repainted all the walls and washed the carpets. Originally internet was not included, she got it for us as well (and it is high speed) additionally, she added tv with 50 channels! Wow, this is just a little bit too nice. ahah After moving in for 2 weeks, she came by again saying she wanted to change the closet doors in the hall way for us. This is probably the nicest landlady I’ve ever met?
以地點，以及房子的狀況來看，這個租金真的是物超所值。每月530，含水電，網路，電視！兩房一廳的公寓，一樓。我原先想說，好吧，租金便宜那狀況可能不會那麼好，但萬萬沒想到房東在我搬進去之前全部粉刷過牆壁而且也洗過地毯。原先並沒說好要裝網路的也給我們裝（而且不是低速網路），還多加了電視！（我們有五十台）天啊，真的是有點受寵若驚。搬進去兩個禮拜後，房東還過來說要幫我們們換走廊衣櫥的門！這大概是我碰過最好的房東吧？

My roommate is pretty good as well. We get along. He is a music student at VCC, so we jam some times. Yup, thank you God for all of this! 真的是走運。哈哈。而我的室友也相當不錯，目前相處的很愉快。他是VCC的學生，音樂系！所以們有時候還可以一起玩玩音樂！嗯！這一切可是真的要好好感謝上帝阿！

Unplugged for 20 days 離線二十天

Actually I wasn’t totally off the net for 20 days. It was just that when I first moved in to my place this Sept. I forgot to tell my landlord to arrange internet ahead of time. So after much procrastination, 20 days later, we finally got our internet going. This probably was the first time I had been offline for so long?
也不能說完全沒用網路啦，可是月初搬家時沒有跟房東講好，所以拖了又拖，搞到今天才有網路。二十天！這大概是我第一次離線這麼久吧？

To my surprise though, I was coping with it very well. I had the weekly internet fast on sundays already, so this wasn’t a dramatic change for me. I remembered I used to say “internet is like air” or “ without internet, the future is blurry”. ahahah So now that I am doing quite well off line I am actually quite glad. I still checked my emails daily this past 20 days, it was only that my time would be limited since I would either check at school or at a coffee shop. I didn’t really have the time to waste on the net. As soon as I was done with emailing and checking some of my bookmarked websites, I would be done.

其實喔，也沒有說非常不方便勒。每個禮拜天我就已經有「禁網路」的習慣了，所以現在也沒有說來的很突然。記得以前我曾說「沒有網路，簡直眼前一片渺茫」。。。哈哈或是「網路就是空氣」。現在已經完全脫離這種狀況了，我還蠻高興的。我每天還是會去學校/咖啡廳檢查信件，但因為時間有限，所以不會像以前在網路前面看東看西。明明事情已經做完了，可是卻還不離開。

On the days without internet, I started reading more, daydreaming more (i love this) and had the chance to go out more. If it wasn’t for my roommate, I would actually consider living without it! But, anyways, it is here now. Lets see if I can remain this healthy habit of getting off the net when I am done with it.
沒有網路的這一陣子我開始有時間閱讀，做白日夢，出去走走。要不是因為室友需要網路的話我還真的考慮就乾脆不要裝網路算了。好啦，今天網路來了，看看我還能不能維持這控制網路時間的好習慣吧。

Stories of the Broken Place

前幾天（禮拜二）搬出來之前趁機記錄一下。
現在搬出來了，感覺比較ok可以與大家分享這洞窟到底長個什麼樣。

Shalom 沙龍

Time flies, in a few days I will be moving out of this broken place soon. (oh how long I’ve waited for this day!) Thinking back now, a lot of things had happened this past year. Although, the living condition was really horrible, I do have to say that God definitely started a healing process within me.
轉眼之間，我在洞窟居住期限終於到了。（天啊，我多麼期待這天的來到！！）回想起來，這過去一年真的是不少事情發生。雖然住處環境真的是差到極點，但是不得不說，過去這一年，上帝真的有在修補我的心。

I remembered just after moving in, I wrote about the broken place as a metaphor of our hearts. We all have wounds that are deep inside just like this house that has problems behind the walls. Just like us fixing up the house, God has been doing the same work inside my heart. This past year, God started cleaning out some really really dirty stuff in me. A lot of these things, I never thought could be cleaned.
記得搬進來沒多久後我曾寫過一篇，把這洞窟與我們的心靈來做個比較。我們心裡也有許多痛處是埋在深處，就如同我住的這間房子在牆背後也有許多問題。很好玩的是，我這麼一回想，上帝這過去一年真的從我的心中挖出許多真的很髒很髒的垃圾。這些東西，是我做夢也沒有想過哪天會清乾淨的。當我們大家一而再再而三發現我們住處的問題，並前進行修理時，上帝也同時在我的心裡做出同樣的工作。

Shalom, I stumbled upon this word the other day while reading. Shalom (Hebrew) means, absolute wholeness, full, harmonious, joyful, flourishing life. I think this is the place where God wants to take me, absolute wholeness, flourishing life and God, through the broken place, has started this journey of healing already.
沙龍(shalom）這是我最近在一本書上讀到的。沙龍，原文是希伯來文，意義包含: 完全協調，完全，喜樂的，豐富的生命。我想這是神要把我的心帶到的境界，完全協調，豐富的生命，而上帝已經藉由這洞窟居住的經驗，開始了這醫治旅程。

Lastly, a friend found this today while cleaning the house with us. This was written on the 4th day into the house.

Oh gosh, this summer I barely wrote in my blog....
喔天啊，這暑假部落格更新的有夠慢。
最近很忙，加上多事，所以變得不是哪麼有心情來寫文章。

anyways, I think I should probably give this blog an update.
About a week ago my dear friend from Singapore came for a short visit!
不過來分享前一陣子好友靜從新加坡過來探訪的照片吧。

Although we only met twice, I am still very happy to be able to see you!

Article One

First time that I heard about Article One was actually through a friend, Emily. I was doing a project on encouraging the purchase of music and needed to talk to a musician. And Emily happen to know Article one. So I emailed them and surprisingly, Nathan (lead singer of the band) actually reponded to my email. I asked some pretty big questions and he answered them quite sincerely. I was very thankful to say the least.

That was my little connection with them. Wanting to thank them by supporting them, I was told by Emily that Article One was touring with Starfield and they were coming to Abbotsford for a concert.

That was my first time seeing them and this weekend at church, I was told they were coming for a tour (by themselves)! To my church! They led worship on sunday. (so good!) They had some great arrangements to many worship songs we all knew. And Monday night was their concert. Wow, they are so good live!

So here is a shout out for Article one. Check them out! A quality band and if they are coming to your city, i recommend going.

Quitting facebook

A few months ago the news was full of privacy issues regarding the recent changes of Facebook security settings. After reading so much about it, and many articles on how to quit facebook cold turkey, I began seriously thinking about leaving facebook as well. So one boring afternoon, out of the blues, I decided “today will be the day to quit facebook”. And so I did.
前一陣子因為facebook 隱私管理的緣故，新聞鬧的很大，好多報章雜誌都寫專欄交大家如何離開facebook。而我也因為讀了這麼多相關文章而開始認真考慮要離開facebook。結果，就在一天心血來潮的狀況之下，我突然決定不玩facebook。我把facebook帳號關了。

There were actually a few reasons why I quit. One of them of course was the privacy issues. Facebook is very different than blogs. It connects you to all your friends, and even show pictures of you and your friends. So the viewer not only knows you well, he/she also knows your friends too. And I think that is pretty intrusive and potentially harmful. Yes, one can change the security in the privacy settings, but I still think that if one day facebook were to used incorrectly (yes I love to daydream like this), it can become a very dangerous weapon.
戒facebook其實有很多原因。其中一個就是報導過很多的，隱私。facebook與部落格不同的則是，它可以聯繫到你所有的朋友。大家的照片有都可以貼標籤，瀏覽者除了知道你以外，也知道你所有的朋友。這樣一來隱私完全曝光。是，隱私權是可以在帳戶上做調整，但我只是想，要是哪一天facebook落入了某人手裡，不正當使用，真的會是個很可怕的工具。（是我在胡思亂想，但我也當真）

Another reason for quitting is because it doesn’t promote healthy interaction with people. I found myself just leaving a message on someone’s wall instead of actually calling them or emailing them to say hello. This wall messaging became an excuse for me to interact with people. Before facebook, if one wanted to get in touch with a friend, you either talk on msn or write an email. And on these forms of communication, there is some commitment. One can’t just say hi and how are you on msn/email and end the conversation. However facebook does not require commitments. A wall message, you actually don’t necessarily need to respond. So for valuing relationships, I have decided to quit facebook. (very funny though, facebook I believe was created so that it promotes interaction with others, but here I am finding it is giving me an excuse not to)

另一個離開的原因是因為facebook取代了許多可以與朋友真正相處的時間。好多時候我會發現，「阿，這位朋友好久沒聯絡了，在他的牆上留個言吧。」就用個「你好嗎？」當藉口。而在以前，沒有facebook的時候要不就是msn或是email。msn，email寄出去不可能只寫個「你好嗎？」，這兩個工具都要求使用者要「用心去交流」。而facebook的牆上留言呢，感覺好像比較不需用心。牆上留言有時回不回其實都沒差，也不能講到什麼真正有意義的內容。所以，因為交流關係，我決定放棄facebook。（非常諷刺的，facebook應該是用來更方便交流的工具，而我卻發現它使我懶惰，有藉口不去真正的交流。）

Movies I love

Thought I would randomly share the movies I love. What I appreciate in a movie most importantly is the message. And for that reason I find that it is often the more serious movies that has a deeper message embedded. One other thing that I often look for also is if it is memorable.
今天沒事無聊想說來分享我喜歡看的電影吧。我特別欣賞有含意的電影。我喜歡一部會使人思考的電影。還有就是我喜歡看印象深刻的電影。

Such a cool and warm hearted film! I highly recommend it.

Tribue to dad 獻給爸爸的

I just saw this post “what our dads taught us about tech” on Gizmodo this morning. Many readers responded by sharing their personal stories and being touched them, I began thinking about my dad’s influences over my passion for all things tech. Of course, not to my surprise, my dad had a major influence. If it weren’t for dad, I wouldn’t love tech and I wouldn’t love industrial design.
今早在Gizmodo上看到這篇「爸爸教我們的科技」，裡面有好多讀者留言透露自己從父親那邊學到的3C技巧。看到大家熱烈的回應相當感動，於是開始回想爸爸在我這熱愛3C兒子上的各個影響。當然，不出我意料，爸爸對我的影響真的非常大。沒有爸爸的支持，就沒有今天喜歡3C、喜歡工業設計的我。

Computers
I remembered the first time I used a computer I was only grade 1. It was at the time of windows 3.1. I didn’t learn a whole lot about computers of course, I was only grade 1, but dad taught us how to turn on the computer, boot into windows and activate the game installed.

記得第一次爸爸教我們用電腦時我只有一年級，Windows 3.1的時代。雖然沒有多學什麼，可是我和弟弟學會開機，進入Windows，然後開啟我們要玩的遊戲。

My first cellphone and the many afterwards
When I was in grade 9, I begged by parents for a cellphone. Why? because it is a sweet toy. Not because I wanted to be a show off or because everyone in school was getting them, I wanted it simply because I wanted to experience what a cellphone was like. And as the technology advanced, I now have had 4 phones. If I remembered it correctly, every single time, it was given by dad. The one that I remembered the most was this past birthday when my dad gave me that NOKIA N85.

九年級時我就吵著爸媽要手機。為啥？因為手機感覺是一個非常酷的玩具。不是因為可以炫耀，或是我在追流行，就純粹喜歡這種科技產品。隨著科技日新月異，我目前用過四支手機。沒記錯的話每次都是爸爸送的。記憶最深的就是這次生日，爸爸送我的新NOKIA手機。

Dad is always there
To be honest, my dad actually isn’t all that into tech. Maybe because he is always busy with work? But even if he didn’t love it, he still supported me all the way. My first apple computer was from dad. My camera was also from my dad. I think as long as he has the ability, he would always be there? And as I look back now, I have to say that without dad, I couldn’t have gotten where I am today, becoming an industrial designer. Without him, how would I have so many random ideas about using technology in my designs?
爸爸永遠支持
說實在，爸爸其實並沒有那麼對3C感興趣。或許工作忙吧？沒時間。但就算他沒有我感興趣，他仍然繼續鼓勵我、支持我。我的第一台蘋果電腦，也是爸爸給的。我的相機，也是爸爸給的。我想只要他有能力他都會一直支持吧？現在回想過去，不得不說我能走到現在，讀工業設計，真的是爸爸長期鼓勵的成果。沒有爸爸，現在的我哪有可能對設計有那麼多的新其科技點子？

Living in metaphors 生活中的隱喻

I have never thought of this before. I never thought of analyzing my own life just like how one would analyze a novel or a movie; analyze the themes/symbols or the contrast between the characters. This past Sept. for the first time I “discovered” a metaphor in my life. And just recently this same metaphor is reappearing again.
以前的我從來沒有這麼想過。我從來沒有想過或許我也可以分析我的生活就如同我分析一部電影或一本小說裡的深層含意、角色之間的對比差距。在去年九月時，我第一次察覺到我生活中的隱喻。而最近我發現生活中又再度出現一個相同主題的隱喻。

The Challenges at work 工作中的挑戰
Backtracking a little, I found a housekeeping job at UBC. I clean the dorms there, kind of like the hotel room service job. I don’t need to say it, but nobody loves this job. On one hand, it doesn’t sound nice, on the other, it really is a dirty job. I often hear complaints from my coworkers. It seems that it is hard for everyone to persist. On my first day of work, this was what I was greeted with and it really got me worrying that my summer could be ruined.
我在UBC宿舍找到了一個清理、打掃學生宿舍，有點像旅館的清潔工的工作。說實在的，沒有人喜歡這工作，一方面是不好看，另一方面是這工作真的很髒。在工作上會聽到許多員工的怨言，要堅持下去似乎對大家都是一個挑戰。而我，新進員工第一天就感受到這種氣氛不僅使我開始擔心我這暑假要如何度過。

The cleaning metaphor 房屋清潔與心靈的比喻
However, when I started looking at this job on another level, looking at it in metaphors, I am starting to find that I can accept it much better; I could remain a some-what positive attitude. The most interesting part about this job for me is the fact that we are cleaning mess that someone has left. And through our cleaning, everything becomes new (clean) again. It is as if we are cleaning a part of someone’s life. We scrub away the dirt, throw away the garbage and replace dead light bulbs with new ones, old bed sheets with new bed sheets. Perhaps I can continue to persist when I look at my job in metaphors.
但當我把這份工作用一個生活隱喻來看，我發現我比較可以接受，可以保持正面態度堅持下去。在這份工作當中最讓我認為有趣的部分則是「我們在清潔某人所留下的髒亂。」透過我們的打掃，整個房子便煥然一新。彷彿我們在打掃屋主生命中的一部分。我們把骯髒，陰影去除，換上新的被單，新的燈泡，整個房子煥然一新。以這種態度去工作，或許我可以堅持下去。

This summer I got a job at UBC working as a house keeper. Unfortunately I didn’t get a design related jog, but oh well, I guess that allows time to take some rest on creative work a little.
今年暑假在UBC大學裡做家務清潔（housekeeping)。很可惜沒有拿到設計有關的工作，不過這也是沒法子的。

So far I have worked for 5 days? Overall it is quite alright, better than I thought. What I do mainly is the cleaning for the dorms on campus. Some are clean, some are just ridiculously dirty. This 8.30AM - 3.30PM job really reminds me of the job I had at the greenhouse 2 years ago. I was in Calgary at the time and now I am in Vancouver. (This year I have not decided to go back because of my lease.) And who knew, I actually miss the summer times in Calgary!
目前在UBC打工有五天了吧？目前整個感覺還ok，沒有想像中的差。我主要是清理校園宿舍。有些乾淨，有些則髒到不像話。每天早上八點半到四點半的工作讓我想起兩年前在溫室打工的情況。當時人在卡加利，現在則在溫哥華。（今年因為房租的關係，所以決定不回卡加利。）而我萬萬沒有想到我竟然會懷念卡加利的夏天！

I think I have stopped buying greeting cards and started making them myself.
I thought if I could make it, why spend the money?
從上大學以來我就幾乎沒有再買過卡片了。
「自己會做為何要花錢買呢？」我總是這樣想。

So, now I guess I have 4 years of experience and the cards recently have turned out very well! ahha
However I always forget to take picture before giving it away.
This time though, I remembered! So I took a few pictures. : D
所以現在也累積四年的經驗了吧？哈哈。
最近的成品我都蠻滿意的，但是每次都忘記拍照就送出去了。
這次剛好有記得，所以特別拍了幾張照片。

First time being a guest speaker 第一次當嘉賓的經驗

Perhaps our teacher believed in us a little too much, or she was just outright crazy. Last week, our teacher had the 3 of us to be guest speakers at her 2nd year course. “Yea right” that was my first thought, “you are just saying it. You don’t actually mean it”. However as our class progressed, her invitation from the beginning of the semester didn’t seem to change. So, last week, the 3 of us shared with the class a few things from our research paper.
不知道我們老師是對我們太信任還是真的是豁出去了，上個禮拜我們三位四年級同學當了老師二年級環保課的嘉賓。當嘉賓的意思是就是要演講。厚！我們聽到時真的以為老師是開玩笑，但隨著我們課程持續進步，老師在學期初對我們的邀請似乎沒有更改的意思。於是就在前幾天，我們三位分別分享了我們最近research paper的內容。

That 2nd year eco course is not a small class, around 100 students. And The fact that our teacher is also a great lecturer made us even more nervous. We were terribly afraid that we would ruin the entire lecture. And our teacher just trusted us so much. She didn’t even ask for our presentation until the last day (I did of course gave her way in advance). She just told us the time for us to talk and asked us to send the presentation to her through email AND THAT WAS IT.
那堂環保課還不算一個小班級，大約有一百位二年級同學。加上我們老師真的是一位非常棒的老師，所以變得我們三位都非常緊張，深怕把老師的課程給搞砸了。老師也真的是非常信任我們。她並沒有要求要預先看我們的報告（我是有給老師看啦）。她只跟我們說時間，然後要我們把簡報前一天傳給她就這樣！

The lecture started with Louise (our teacher) with the main content for 30 minutes and then the rest were up to us to finish. When I got to the class I was already feeling quite nervous. Although Louise’s lecture was very cool, I was more focused on calming myself down before I go up. Thankfully, everything ended very nicely. The 3 of us spoke pretty well and finished just on time. It really was a unique experience I must say. And I really thank our teacher for believing and affirming us.
課程開始時是由老師先講了大約半小時的課，後面的部份就交給我們「處理」。我到場時，坐在下面聽課就聽的有點不安了。雖然老師的內容真的蠻有趣，但是就一直擔心我會不會上台後整個結疤。好險，最後一切完美結束。我們三位都很「平穩」的講完。這真的是一個特別的經驗，也特別謝謝老師對我們的信任，以及認可。

These past few days I am truly touched by the special services that my church has planned for Easter. Through different artistic elements, the church has represented the true meaning of Easter. I never knew Easter was this important until this weekend honestly.
And now that I know, all I can really say is thank you God, thank you Jesus, thank you. Thank you for the incredible love that you poured out.

過去的這幾天，我真的被教會所舉辦的幾場特別聚會深深的感動。透過不同的元素，教會再次展現復活節真正的意義。「原來復活節是那麼重要！」我發現我自己這樣說。

I really have no idea what has been happening to me. I have been super super forgetful these a few months. Oh man, it is a little ridiculous. I have been missing my friend’s and family’s birthdays! I first missed my dad’s completely; then my moms, good thing I did catch it on the day; then matthew and mary. These are important friends and family in my life!! and i can’t remember! So, I am deeply sorry for forgetting your birthdays. I will try to remember next time. And I will also try to remember those misc. things in life too.

過去的這兩三個月，我開始每個禮拜日練習禁網路。突然想要禁網路因為我真的覺得有許多時候浪費太多時間在網路上。整天持續的資訊吸收，沒完沒了，而有的時候也吸收了許多廢物。於是寒假結束後，我決定這個學期也要開始禁網路。

For the past 2, 3 months, I had been doing an internet fast every sunday. A little strange, but I really think I am beginning to spend way too much time online. Absorbing information all day long, it never ends and there are so much junk on the net. Being online can really be a big time waster. So after the winter break, I’ve decided that I was gonna do an internet fast.

禮拜天整天不碰網路，其實是一件沒那麼難的事。沒有網路的一天雖然可能無法回復email，上facebook檢查最新動態，但相對的我可以做許多平常沒時間做的事。把之前都花在電腦前面的時間，現在拿來與朋友相處，閱讀，彈鋼琴。還有，我最喜歡的，發呆。

It actually isn’t that hard not to go online for the entire day I am finding. Although an offline day I can’t reply emails or check them, nor can I go on facebook, I am starting to spend more time on things that I did not have time for, such as day dreaming. Instead of being online, I now spend the time on sundays to be with friends, to read and to play some music.

Random thoughts on cellphones閒聊手機

Recently I just got a new phone. Having used many sony ericssons, this time I have decided to go with a Nokia. Cell phones today is advancing like there is no tomorrow. Since the launch of the iphone, just about every major cell phone companies started coming out with better and better phones every quarter. And this really has made the cell phone field even more interesting. The traditional calling and texting is now the most fundamental feature. Today, there are even more advanced communication features such as email and facebook. Not to mention the cameras, they can take very decent pictures nowadays.

用過不少手機的我最近剛換了一支手機。一直以來都是用索愛（sony ericsson) 最近突然換了一台nokia。手機現在真的是日新月異阿！幾年前蘋果進軍手機市場後，現在各大手機公司拿出渾身法術，來個大亂鬥。手機這項產品現在真的是越來越有趣。傳統的通話功能如今已經進步到可以以email, facebook聯繫。手機上的相機品質也好到可以充當數位相機。

It becomes very hard to imagine five years from now, what kind of role would cell phones play in our daily lives. Computers nowadays are getting smaller too; netbooks, the latest trend. And of course the most popular topic of the season, the Apple ipad. It seems that the line that defines what is a netbooks and what is a cell phone is slowly becoming blurry, and it is starting to get difficult to identify the two. Take the Nokia I bought recently for example. Even when it is an one year old model, it can do internet browsing (WIFI), email, music, GPS, and even download apps. And I, first time owner of a smart phone, am finding myself taking out my phone ever so often to play with it. It seems that the future is a place where we do not get disconnected from any form of computers.

真是令人無法想像，五年後手機在我們生命中會佔什麼樣的角色。電腦現在也越縮越小; netbook，最近很紅的潮流。當然還有之前吵翻天的蘋果ipad。手機和netbook，這兩項產品感覺正越走越近。感覺很快的，我們就很難分辨哪個是手機，哪個是netbook。拿我這次換的新手機當個例子，這支諾基亞就算是一支智慧手機。就連這支一年前的舊款式，它仍然可以達到上網(wifi)，email, 聽音樂，GPS，下載軟件等功能。第一次用智慧手機的我現在越來越常在閒著的時候拿出手機來把玩。看來以後的我們是真的離不開「電腦」了，以後隨身就有一台。

Woo!! Canada!

It is simply amazing to see that Canada was the country that got the most Gold medals this year. And Every time as I watched the live coverage of the games, it was as if I was the one competing. Screaming and cheering all the way. Especially when we win, it can become a very emotional moment.
加拿大這次一連獲得了十四面金牌，達到有史以來加拿大最多的紀錄，並且也是這一屆得到最多獎牌的國家。每次看著現場實況轉播的比賽就是忍不住想要為加拿大加油。尤其是當加拿大贏的時候，更是有著無比的感動。

A few days ago, as I was listening to the radio broadcasting news regarding the Olympics, the host said something that really stood out to me. He said,

“we love watching the Olympics because we can see the efforts that these athletes have put into the games. And we are inspired this. Especially when they win a gold medal, we cheer for them because we want to celebrate with them as well.

I guess this is the reason why I am aways attracted by the Olympics. As I watch the athletes compete after all these years of hard work, I am easily inspired by their perseverance. And when I see that their efforts have come through, it makes me absolutely thrilled.

就前幾天，我在收音機上聽著廣播播報奧運相關消息時，主持人說到:

「大家都這麼喜歡看奧運因為我們看得出選手們的努力; 我們也被他們這堅忍不拔的努力所感動。尤其是當選手獲得獎牌時，我們更能為他高興，拍手叫好。」

或許這就是我這麼喜歡看奧運的關係吧。看到這麼多的選手，經過長期的努力，現在要一決勝負。每位選手的路程都是艱苦困難的。而當我看到他們努力得到成果時我也忍不住想要為他們高興。

I am very glad that I got to experience the Olympics in my home town. We are lucky I would say. Not everyone get to experience that in their life.
我真的非常高興我有機會在自己家經歷奧運。有多少人有這機會呢？我們真的非常幸運。

Somehow, the olympcis is always something that I will always follow. I am not sure why, but it just attracts me so much. My housemate says, “of course you need to watch it. We actually win at winter olympics.” And I have to say we have done pretty well so far!
不過奧運一直都是我超愛看的節目。不知道為什麼，奧運對我就是有那那吸引力。室友說: 「當然要看啦！冬季奧運我們加拿大至少表現不錯！」而我也不得不說加拿大表現的非常好。（目前第四！）

And can you believe it, I actually started watching hockey! I have never liked watching it, but now I am all pumped and excited for it. Yesterday the game with Russia, was so good! 7 - 3! Go Canada! And today I followed the women’s final briefly as well. I am just so into hockey now! Maybe I should start watching hockey....
看著奧運，我盡然也開始看起曲棍球！以前從來不感興趣的我現在可是熱血的很！昨天加拿大對俄羅斯搶進semi final（半決賽），原先大家都說俄羅斯勝算很高的，結果最後我們竟然以七比三的高分獲勝！超興奮的！今天女子曲棍對美國爭冠軍，加拿大也贏！看著看著我看我也成為了看曲棍球的粉絲。

So these a few weeks in Vancouver, the streets are filled with tourists. And I am not sure why, but the Canadians have become extra friendly and nice. So many times on the bus I saw people greet one another and one time even, I saw a lady offering a tourist Halls because she was coughing! Too bad the olympics is gonna be over in a few days. I will miss it. But before then! Go CANADA!
這幾個禮拜，街上充滿了外國人。也不知道為什麼溫哥華的市民也突然變得格外親切。好幾次在巴士上看到許多讓人感動的舉動。例，互相問候，甚至還主動拿喉糖給在咳嗽的外國人。很可惜再過幾天，奧運就要閉幕了，我會懷念的！不過在那之前，加拿大加油！！！

Thoughts on critiques

Being at an art school now for almost 4 years, I am starting to think that perhaps we should be taught how to do a critique. A critique is suppose to help our classmates to take the project to the next level. However what often happens at the end of a critique is that some students would get absolutely defeated by the things that were said. Instead of wanting to excel and improve, one could say that we’ve pushed him down the cliff.
上藝術學院將近四年以來，我開始發現學校應該要教學生如何講評互相的作品。講評的用處應該是使作品更上一層樓，但常常在學校師生講評一結束，許多學生卻被大家的講評而被打敗。與其更有動力想把作品完美化，不如說完全跌到谷底，根本連碰都不想碰。

How do you critique when it is a bad project then? I remembered when I was in my first year, I had a class where the students really understood how to respect one another. When there was a so-so project on display, they wouldn’t say too many compliments, but people would use encouragements to tell the student where to improve. As a result, the student wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of the whole class, but at the same time, he/she would know areas to improve.
作品差的時候該如何講評？我記得我一年級時有一班課同學們真的非常懂得尊重。當有不好的作品出現時，大家心裡也都知道，雖然不會講太多好話，可是大家會用非常好的語氣鼓勵該同學如何進步。這位同學，因為這樣不會在大家面前擺不下臉，但卻也深知這次的作品許要再加強。

We really should be aware if we are helping one another during critiques.
講評時，我們應該要注意我們是否在幫助別人。

The birthday this year, is very special. There were many things that touched my heart deeply. And possibly because it was the exact opposite of what happened when I was little, I was especially moved this birthday. Thanks everyone for your wishes. I used to say that these blessings are like chicken noodle soup that will eventually heal my wounds, but this year, I believe I am healed.
今年的生日，很特別。有許多另我感動的事情發生。也大概是因為與小時候的情況完全相反所以我對今年的生日特別有感觸。謝謝大家所有的祝福。以前的我一直說這些祝福像心靈雞湯，最後會醫治我，而今年，我相信我已經康復了。

80s night 八零年代服裝打扮

A few days ago I went to my friends' "cooling party" (they are moving) and it was an 80s theme party. I didn't participate in dressing up, but almost everyone did that night. And some people really put a lot of effort into it! My friend above especially, she had one of the most authentic look that night.
前幾天去參加了朋友辦的「搬家party」。主題是80年代的裝扮。我並沒有跟他們裝扮成80年代的樣子，不過當天有些人真的是非常用心打扮喔！上面第一張這位同學大概是當天打扮的最經典的一位。

Sharian, we are sorry. 我們對不起你

Just after the winter break, my third day in school, my classmate told me, “Have you heard? Sharian is no longer with us; she left.” At first I thought it was a joke, seeing that I was puzzled, he said, “Did you see the flowers in front of the school? I am not kidding.” Later I heard from another friend saying that she committed suicide.
寒假過後，我上學的第三天，同學突然對我說: 「你聽說了嗎？Sharian 不在了，走了。」我一開始還以為他在開玩笑，但後來他跟我說: 「是真的，你沒有看到校門口那邊有她的靈堂嗎？」後來我又從另一位朋友的口中聽到，聽說她是自殺的。

Last semester I was actually in the same class with Sharian. She is Chinese, 4th year, Communication Design student. Sharian is very (overly) shy, no body in the class paid much attention to her. She doesn’t really have friends, she seemed invisible. She never talked in class either and as soon as classes were done, she left immediately. It seemed like she was afraid to talk to people, as if afraid of getting hurt. There was once I tried to talk to her, but it seemed like she didn’t want to talk. I would ask a question, she would give me a one word answer. So altogether I have only spoken to her once.
我跟Sharian上個學期同班過。中國人。四年級，平面設計係。她非常（過度）害羞。她在班上其實並沒有人注意她，沒有朋友，幾乎是隱形人。在班上也曾不說話，一下課就立刻離開。感覺她好像很怕與人接觸，深怕受傷。有一回我試著想要認識她，但她顯得沒有很想要交談。我問一句她就答一句。所以我們兩就僅僅講過那麼一次話。

It was until school started again, I heard the tragedy.
直到後來開學才聽到悲劇。

How come I didn’t try to get to know her better? It is quite obvious that she didn’t have anyone to talk to. She was always alone. And I have only tried once talking to her. Just because she didn’t seem to want to talk, that didn’t mean that she didn’t need a friend. Sharian, we are sorry. Our whole class is sorry for the way we have treated you. We were not good classmates.
為什麼我沒有更積極的去認識她呢？很明顯的她在班上沒有人跟他聊天講話。一直都是一個人的她一定也很希望有個朋友可以聊聊。但我就試過那麼一次。就因為他的反應比較不強烈，不代表我不需要繼續關心。Sharian對不起。我們全班對不起你。我們不是好同學。

Canada line

Sine the opening of the Canada Line, I have always wanted to record the “announcements” at the station. I don’t know why, but I really like hearing the announcements. It feels very international! As if you are at the airport.
自從Canada Line（溫哥華捷運第三線）2009年九月初通車後我就一直很想要把月台的「廣播」給錄下來。就不知道為什麼，非常喜歡Canada Line的廣播聲。非常國際化的感覺，彷彿人在機場。

Another thing that is related is that we now have streetcars from our school (granville island) to the nearest skytrain station! I believe this is designed especially for the Olympics. Although it is very cool looking, I don’t really see a big use in it... There are buses from the island to the skytrain stations too, why spend so much money on the streetcars? Unless it will expand in the future?
另外要提的就是我們學校門口(Granville Island)現在盡然有小電車通往最近的捷運站！我想這一項服務我想也是為了奧林匹克而設的。雖然很可愛啦，可是我覺得用處不大。巴士也可以從學校附近到捷運站阿，何必大費周章？除非以後會擴展？

Beach at night 夜晚海灘

A few days ago me and my roommates decided that we were gonna go to the kitslano beach on Wed. night (yesterday). We actually have always wanted to visit the beach since moving in. However after moving in we had been super busy. So now that we just had a break, everyone is still somewhat free, we decided that we were gonna go. So we actually went last night at 8.30 PM!

前幾天和室友們決定禮拜三（昨天）晚上要去一趟 kitslano 海灘。其實我們九月搬進這裡時就有提議過，但是一直都沒法找到合適的時間。剛好最近寒假放完，大家課業還不重，我們昨天就真的晚上八點半跑到那黑漆麻烏的海灘去。

We even brought wood and had a fire on the beach. We sat around it, chatted, and ate some marshmellows. I actually really enjoy this kind of moments. Everyone together, chatting, listening to the faint sound of the sea and wind, feeling the warmth of the fire, it makes me feel very content in life. haha

我們還在沙灘上生了火，大家就圍著小營火烤棉花糖，聊天。其實我很喜歡這樣。大家這樣聊天，聽微微海聲和風聲，感受營火的溫度，這樣感覺起來非常滿足。哈哈

3rd internship 第三個實習

A few days ago I started my third internship. I am very thankful that this school year it has not been difficult for me to find internships. The internship I am working for this time is with Vancouver Foundation. I will be a data collector and a website builder for them.
前幾天正式開始了我第三個實習工作！非常高興這學年非常順利的都有找到實習工作。這次的實習是為Vancouver Foundation 收集資料+設計網站。

Vancouver Foundation is an interesting organization. They financially sponser all kinds of organizations out there. They include: medical services, social work, and arts. So my project with them is working with the artists in the Down Town East Side. Vancouver Foundation has already selected 60 artists that they are going to sponsor. My job is to interview and document their work and eventually make a website for the entire collection.
Vancouver Foundation 這機構蠻特別的。他們專門贊助社會裡各種機構，包含醫療，社會福利，藝術等。我跟他們這次做的project是贊助 Vancouver Downtown East Side 的藝術家。Vancouver Foundation已經選好了他們要贊助的六十位藝術家，我的工作則是去訪問+記錄他們的藝術作品，最後並把所有的資料整理起來做成網頁。

End of teaching internship 實習結束

My teaching internship ended roughly 2 weeks ago. Altogether I have taught these grades 4 to 6 kids 7 lessons. I had a great time with these kids. And I was especially glad that it was not an all girls class (originally I thought boys wouldn’t like arts and crafts). We had almost half boys and half girls. The girls, were always really good; always listens to me. The boys however, can be tough sometimes. They often cannot sit quietly for a long time and they like to fool around, but some how I still find them to be just as lovable as the girls.
實習大約兩個禮拜前結束。總共跟這些四五六年級小朋友上了七堂課。我真的很開心可以跟這些小朋友相處。我很高興班上不是全都是女生（原先想說這是美勞課應該全都是女生）。我們幾乎有一半男生，一半女生，總共十位小朋友。小女生是真的很聽話，說什麼就做什麼。男生勒，就比較難搞，常常坐不住椅子，調皮搗蛋，但不知道為什麼我覺得他們這樣還是很可愛。

Talking about boys and girls, I have noticed that it is a lot better if one seperates the boys and girls. So what I did was I seperated them into their own groups and gave them different activities. The reason? how can you ask a little boy to sit quietly in his chair and make cute little cards? When designing activities for kids, I had to think if both genders will find it interesting. So there was once I asked the girls to make a Christmas Card, and for the boys, I asked them to design a weapon out of card boards.
說到男生、女生，有一個發現就是，如果把男女生分開來做不同的活動，很有效。原因是，男生哪會有那耐心乖乖作在椅子上剪小紙片、作可愛的小卡片？當在準備活動時，我必須要考慮到男女生是否都對此活動感到興趣。所以有一次，女生的活動是做聖誕卡片。男生勒，我要他們用厚紙板作武器。

This is definitely one of my favorite Christmas songs. Don't know why, but Nat King Cole's voice has a Christmas feeling to it. So every time when I hear this song, I immediately get the Christmas feeling.
這絕對是我最喜歡的聖誕歌。不知道為什麼，可是Nat King Cole的聲音真的就是很有聖誕節的感覺。所以每次聽到這首歌時立刻就會聯想到聖誕節。

On a side note, I must say Calgary is looking very beautiful these a few days. These picture were taken these a few days in front of our house. Merry Christmas everyone!

Dear friends, for those that might have heard what has been happening in my study, I thought I would share some of the thigns that God has revealed to me with you.
親愛的朋友，如果你最近有聽到關於我課業的消息，讓我來來分享一下上帝最近給我的一些啟示。

God told me it is costly to follow him. I haven’t really understood exactly what that meant until these a few days. Over the semester God really encouraged + challenged me to spend a lot more time with friends. Normally I would not go out of the way to do this, especially when I have got a grad project on my back. But some how I was really moved to do so. And consequently, the time i had for my grad project became limited. And as a result, the grad project was not well done.
But as I reflect on this whole semester, I realized that isn’t this dying for Jesus?
神說跟隨他是有代價的。一直以來我不是很瞭解這到底是什麼意思，直到這幾個禮拜。過去這學期神一直在鼓勵我多花時間在朋友身上。通常我並不會這麼做，特別是當我手上還有個畢業作要忙。但我也不知道為什麼，這學期我就是有這個心願意去花時間。所以這學期導致我做畢業作的時間非常有限。最後導致我這個學期畢業作沒過。。。但當我仔細去想時，我發現這不就是為神捨命嗎？

And this past semester I have also come to the realization that as Christians we are not asked to pursue the worldly things. I saw my classmates chasing after fame. They wanted to become a well know designer, so they pour their entire life into their grad project. It is almost like a form of worship. But what is the point of pursuing fame? When we get to see Jesus face to face, what exactly are the gold and silver in his eyes? Fame won’t be, money won’t be. However, a heart that is for God will be.
過去一學期我也深深的體會、我們基督徒不應該追求屬世的東西。我看到我的同學追求fame。他們要成名、所以他們全心全意的專著在畢業作上。幾乎變成一種worship（崇拜）。但我們基督徒追求fame and gold for what? 最後上了天國甚麼才是屬天的金銀寶石？fame 絕對不是、金錢絕對不是。向神的心才是。

My teacher has suggested me to take the next semester off from Core design. She told me that I have potential and she doesn’t want me to just end up with a bad project in the end. So after praying, I have decided to do so.
老師剛剛跟我簡單談了一下。他跟我說、我有很多前途、他不希望我就這樣草草了事。沒有好的作品。。就這樣畢業。所以他建議我這下學期設計課休息、把剩下的必修課上完、明年再回來完成畢業作。

Following Jesus is definitely costly. He leads you to do something that looks completely stupid in the eyes of the world, but I believe he is good. And he is for me.
跟隨主事有待價的。他會帶領我們去做一些莫名其妙的事情。但我相信這意切都有他的美意、我願意順服。

Grad projects are like that sometimes. It is often over emphasized to the point that the students are overwhelmed with stress. “I must suceed because this is my grad.” The thought came to my mind these a few days. Perhaps I am one of those students that worries more about “success” than learning.
畢業作有的時候就會這樣。在學校似乎常常「畢業作」被受過度的注目，導致學生壓力過大。「這是畢業作，所以我必須要成功。」我這幾天體會到這一點。似乎我也是那群過度注重「成功」的學生之一。

I am not saying don’t succeed, but I think there needs to be a balance. Don’t forget friends because of a grad project. Don’t forget health because of a grad project. Don’t be stressed just because of being stuck for a moment. Don’t be envious because you think other people’s grad projects are better. Don’t be stressed because you worry if your grad project will succeed. Don’t forget what you are living for. There are things in life that is worth dying for more than a grad project.
我不是說「不要成功」，而是我覺得我們必須要找到一個平衡點。不要因為畢業作而捨棄健康、友情。不要因為暫時遇到困難而壓力過大。不要因為覺得自己的畢業作沒有別人的好而感到沮喪。不要因為擔心會不會成功而擔心。別忘記你是為什麼而活，生命中還有比「畢業作」更珍貴的東西值得捨命。

Skating 溜冰

A few days ago I went skating with a bunch of firends from school. Ice skating. Although I didn’t know how to skate very well, I still managed to have a lot of fun. 
前幾天與學校的同學一起去溜冰。雖然加拿大以冰上曲棍球著名，但是溜冰場上還是看到好多人（大人小孩都一樣）戰戰兢兢的溜著。我當然也一樣，這是我第二次溜冰。

Usually there are handles on wheels that can help you skate,(what are those things called?) but, look at the ones they have here. I don’t think anyone other than the kids are willing to use them.(Please refer to the first picture)
溜冰跌到特別痛，我有經驗。因為非常冷，而且跌下去後會繼續「滑行」。。。。為了讓初學者方便學習，溜冰場通常都有輔助器。但是這家溜冰場的輔助器實在是有夠丟臉。。。（請看第一張照片）

Anyways, I didn’t fall this time! Holding hands really makes a big difference to not falling...
這次我沒有跌倒！我們發現了一個秘訣，牽手。牽手溜冰的話可以彼此扶持，不容易滑倒。

My first pumpkin 第一棵南瓜

前幾天萬聖節。朋友（室友）聽說我從沒去「要糖果」也從沒「刻過南瓜」於是逼我說今年一定要做這兩樣！
A few days ago, Halloween, my friends (roommates) heard that I have never went “trick or treating” or carved “a pumpkin” before so they insisted (forced) that I must do these 2 things this year.

要糖果，我是覺得沒那麼好玩啦。都已經二十一歲了我的朋友們還是厚臉皮感跑上街頭哀家挨戶要糖！我答應他們我只去一家，剩下的我就只是跟著他們在巷子裡一家一家敲門。
Trick or treat... I thought it was ok. I am already 21! I can’t believe me and my friends still went trick or treating. haha. I promised them I would only do 1 house, and the rest I just followed them as they went door to door.

我覺得好玩的到是「刻南瓜」。刻一棵南瓜還有點費時勒。要先在頂端開個口。然後把裡面的子全部挖光光才能開始刻。用手挖子的部份有點噁心。。。哈哈不過成品就在上面。第一次刻的南瓜，不錯吧？哈哈哈
Pumpkin carving however I thought was kinda fun. Carving a pumpkin is actually not that easy! And your hands get quite dirty.... ahah. but anyways, that is the pumpkin we carved. Not bad eh? for the first time. haha

Laurier Elementary 小學實習

A few days ago I started my internship with the Vancouver school board. It was actually quite fun teaching the little elemtary kids. I remembered that day, I arrived a bit early, and school was still happening. I was walking in the school looking at the classrooms and the artworks on the wall. What intrigued me the most was the piano and the children singing downstairs. Their voices were so cute! ahah I couldn’t help but put up a huge smile on my face.
前幾天我開始了我的實習工作啦～教小朋友美勞，真的是蠻好玩的勒。記得我到的當天，學校再過幾分鐘就要下課了，所以在小學裡慢慢強上的美勞作品以及一間又一間的教室。最吸引我的則是樓下音樂教室傳出的鋼琴聲與小朋友合唱的聲音。好可愛阿！！哈哈哈。我臉上忍不住露出大大的微笑。

The art class went very well that day. I had 10 kids on my list, but I don’t know why only 5 showed up. I guess I should phone up their parents and remind them that the classes have started? (hahaha this is exactly like a teacher’s job) And then, I was suppose to only get 3 high school helpers, but some how 5 came! We had 5 students with 5 teachers that day! ahahah oh my goodness.
當天的美勞課進行的很順利。名單上有十位同學，但不知道為什麼只來了五位。。。我得打電話給家長提醒一下吧？（哈哈，感覺好像「老師」阿！）然後我的高中助手原先應該只有三位的，現在卻有五位！？當天我們老師的人數竟然跟學生一樣多。。。。

There is one thing me and a few friends (all art/design students) have realized when it comes to receiving feedbacks for grad projects. That is, you cannot not take in all the feedbacks. Let me explain.
我覺得畢業作其中最大的挑戰就是我們需要學習去「辨識」。我們需要知道，什麼是可用的意見，而什麼是不可用的意見。讓我解釋一下吧。

As I am starting to develope ideas, I am starting to ask around my friends what they think about them. (Friends from school and friends from outside of this field.) And I have been getting many mixed reviews to every single idea. Some say, oh I love this. Another would say, um... I don’t think that will work.
前一陣子我們開始了我們的「腦力激盪」階段。在這階段我也在我們朋友圈裡（學校的、學校外的）把我一些idea分享給他們聽、問他們的意見。但是我所收集到的結果非常混亂。有些人說:「這idea很棒」但又有些人說:「不是太好」。

I got very very confused. I started to think if I had went wrong. But then I realized, yes, I need to get both sides of opinions but I also need to discern which part of the feedback is useful. I cannot satisfy the whole crowd. I need to learn to discern!
原來想要藉由這個方式確定方向的我反而變得非常矛盾，不知該如何是好。但後來我發現，「對，我是應該要收集各種意見，但我需要去分辨哪些是可用的意見」。我沒有辦法滿足所有大眾，所以我需要學習辨識。

Brainstorming session 腦力激盪，100個ideas

We are already into our brainstorming phase in the grad project! So in this phase what we are suppose to do is to explore all possibilities to solve the problem.
My problem is: to encourage the public to legally purchase more music.
In my previous experiences, usually my teacher would ask for 10 - 20 different ideas in this brainstorming phase. This year however, I guess because it’s grad year, she wants us to have 100 ideas!!!! Gosh! That is a bit too much eh? But I do have to say that it is working out very well. By the time that I was in my 50th idea, I had some pretty good ideas already. So right now I am at my 80th idea. It is due 2 days later. Go Andrew!!

畢業作已經進行到腦力激盪過程啦。這階段的用意是尋找所有解決問題的各種可能性。
本人畢業作題目: 說服大眾支持正版音樂。
在過去的課程裡呢，在這階段，老師通常要求10到20個不同的idea。今年，大概因為這是「畢業作」吧，老師要我們想100個idea!!!天啊，有點過頭吧。不過不得不說真的很有用。我做到第五十個idea時，我有幾個真的很不錯idea。本人現在在第八十個idea。後天要交作業，加油阿！

Like a grade 12 student 高中風光

My high school 本人的高中

A few days ago I got my second “internship”! This time it is teaching related. So on Friday, I met with the coordinator in south vancouver at Eric Hamber High School.
前幾天拿到我的第二份「實習工作」！這份實習是跟教育有關，所以禮拜五時我跑到eric hamber高中與主任碰面。

I was very very excited, because that meant I could spend some time around the high school. (If you have read the previous article, then you would know why.) The timing for the meeting was perfect, because it was right after the lunch break. I made sure I arrived early so I could walk around the school for a while.
我超級期待的。因為，這代表我可以短暫的在這所高中閒晃一下。（如果你有讀我之前的文章你會知道為什麼我期待在高中裡閒晃。）老師跟我們約的時間剛好是中午下課結束的時後，所以我特地早到學校在裡面晃了一晃。

I saw many familiar scenes. A bunch of girls sitting in the hallway eating lunch. Some other students were eating and wondering around the school. And by the parking lot, you could expect to see the guys that were trying to be cool.
我看到許多熟悉的畫面。一群女生坐在學校走廊吃飯。一群學生與朋友邊走邊吃。在學校操場旁呢，有那些自以為是，愛耍帥的男生。

I don’t know about you, but in my grade 12th year, there was something about it that made me feel I was superier than all the other students. (hahahah) For example, the younger students would get out my way instantly when I walk in the hall way. Or people wouldn’t look at you straight in the eyes.
不知道在台灣的情況是怎樣，不過在這邊，高三學生走在學校裡可是「有風」的勒（哈哈哈）。低年級學生會自動讓路，高三學生跟低年級學生比，有莫名其妙的權威。

So this past Friday, before going to the school, I was wondering if I will be treated the same as a grade 12 student. ahahah And you know what? They really do. Students would get out my way when I am in the hall way, and they would not look at me in the eyes. After the meeting with the coordinator, as I was getting out of the school, I saw 3 girls from another high school. And as I was passing by them, I heard one of the girls shouted “Eric Hamber sucks!”. ahhahahahaah So I guess I still look very much like a high school student after all.
所以禮拜五去學校時，心裡就在想，我的「風」還在不在？結果！還真的有耶！哈哈哈（自動讓路，學生不敢直視）我和另一位朋友與主任會議結束，走出Eric Hamber高中時，路上碰到幾位另一所高中的女生，結果還被他們嗆「Eric Hamber sucks!」（Eric Hamber 超爛！）哈哈哈哈哈要說我看起來像高中生似乎還說得過去。

Research - Grad Project 畢業作之研究調查

After school started, I found the very first problem that I will have to face for my grad project. The trend of the internet and music downloading is still a fairly new subject and there aren’t many resources that could help me with my research. There are no books written about it. There aren’t much on the internet either. The only thing that has a bit about this is the magazines, but it is barely usable. The very first step in a design project is research, and I have a limited resource! So what I have decided to do was to make a little survey. This surely was a better approach to collecting data.
開學後，我發現了我這個主題的第一個困難。網路與音樂下載仍然是相當新潮的一個流行。設計的第一步就是「研究、調查」，而我根本沒有資源。書籍裡沒有記載，在網路上相關資源也不多，目前為止還可以勉強說得過去的只有「雜誌」。但雜誌裡的資源也不夠。於是我打算乾脆作個「網路調查」訪問我的同學。

I asked a total of 9 questions. They were mostly:
How many gigs of music do you have on your computer or ipod?
Approximately how many percentage of my music is purchased.
Do you prefer to purchase a CD or a digital copy? etc.
總共有九個問題。問題如:
你電腦裡/mp3裡面總共有多少音樂？(GB)
你收藏的音樂裡，有多少是購買的音樂？
如果要購買音樂，你會買CD還是電子檔案(mp3)？等

And these a few days I have been getting some results back, and it is quite interesting! I was very very surprised that there are a lot of people that have never bought a song online before! (except for this one person, which has bought more than 200 songs) Another thing was that almost everybody has music more than 8GB! Mostly over 10GB! (where do you guys get your music!?) But when I asked them, how much of them were purchased music, the majority of them said under 10%....
這幾天看到大家的回答都覺得相當有趣。超級驚訝有好多人竟然從沒在itunes 或任何網路音樂商店購買過音樂！（不過倒是有一位朋友竟然購買了兩百多首音樂！）還有，我發現好多朋友都有 8GB以上的音樂！大部分都多於10GB！（天啊，你們哪來的音樂）但，當我問他們有幾%是購買的音樂時，大部分人都說 10%之內。。。

At an art school, the grad project is of great importance to us students. It basically is what reflects us as artists / designers. You can also say that it is the result of 4 years of learning + hard work.
在一所藝術學院畢業作品可以算是我們的代表作。可以說是我們四年努力心血的學習成果。所以畢業做對我們學生來說相當重要。

That is my topic for my grad.
Yes... I can already foresee people wondering why i would choose such a boring subject. Well, I think this is an issue that should be addressed! Another reason is because I love music and I am also very into music. Music like design/art, is also one form of art. And as a designer I could kinda relate to them. So, yes, this seems like a difficult project, communication design seems to suit this subject better (I am in product design), but I am just in the beginning! I am not even into the research phase yet! so, please wait and see!

是的。。。我已經可以預期到有人會認為我在想啥！幹嘛選這麼無聊的題目！但人家就是有興趣嘛！我認為這是一個非常普遍而必須檢討的問題。我自己本身非常喜歡音樂。畢竟音樂也算是一種藝術，所以身為設計師/藝術家，我比較可以體會音樂人的感受。

The broken place 破損的地方

We have already moved into this new place for about 2 weeks now. 2 weeks have past by already but it really felt like 1 whole month had just gone by. At the “broken place” we continue to find new “broken areas” around the house. Whether it is a leaking problem or the hygiene problem, one comes after another. It doesn’t seem to stop.
搬進「新家」已經將近兩個禮拜了。已經兩個禮拜了，但感覺好像我們已經有一個月了。在這「破損的地方」，一天又一天我們持續的發現新的「破損」。不管是漏水問題還是衛生問題，一個接一個。這個結束下個又來。

On another perspective, this house really is a metaphor of a broken heart. To say broken, maybe is a bit exaggerating, but everyone has had pain in life. Some can be seen easily on the outside, but there are also pain that are deeply hidden that no one knows. For the pain to go away it takes time and recovery can also be difficult and unbearable. A house that looks fine on the outside actually has broken places hidden behind the walls. Who would want a house that looks good only on the outside but not behind the walls?
但換個角度來，看這間房子彷彿代表一顆破損的心。說破損，或許過頭了點，但每個人都有痛處。有些是很表面的痛處，有些則是很深層的傷痛。痛處要受到醫治須要時間，但受治療也是很辛苦難熬的。一間看似ok的房子，卻有藏在牆壁裡的問題。但誰會要一間外在ok但內在不ok的房子？

I have realized something these 2 weeks of absolute hard labour cleaning the house. We are all broken, like this house. We all have broken places within our hearts that needs “cleaning”. Although the process maybe painful, sometimes it even feels like spreading salt over a wound, but everyone would want a house that is perfect inside out right?
這兩個禮拜辛苦再辛苦的清潔，我深深的體會，我們大家都像這間房子。我們心中都有破碎的地方須要醫治。治療很辛苦，或許感覺好像在傷口灑鹽，但每個人都可望擁有一間內外都漂亮的房子吧？

If you could “re-do” one part of your life, what part would it be? Some one had asked me this once. However of course, I couldn’t really answer it immediately and never found the answer until recently. If I could, I would redo my high school years.
如果可以重複過去的某一段，你會選擇生活中的哪一段？曾經有人這樣問過我，但當然，這問題並不是可以馬上找到答案的。直到最近，我發現，我最想要「重新來過」的是我國、高中的生活。

High school should have been a great place to meet new friends, to try out new things, to take many different courses and it was the time that you are mature enough but not too much that you can enjoy life without feeling any serious stress. High school should have been a great memory, however mine wasn’t.
在加拿大這邊，國、高中是一段非常值得享受的時光。這裡的學生沒有那麼大的升學壓力，在學校可以上許多不同科系的課程，分數不好也不是什麼天大的問題。國、高中應該是美好的回憶，但在我的記憶裡這並不存在。

I think it was mainly because I was trying to figure out who I really am. I encountered some big conflicts within myself during the time. I had to choose between my Taiwanese culture or the Canadian culture. I had to choose between what my parents wanted me to pursue, sciences, or what I really enjoyed, arts. I had to choose between if I should be a Christian or a slacker. I finally had it all figured out when I got to grade 12 and it was then I finally started enjoying my high school years.
我想主要的原因大概是因為，那段時間我一直在考慮「我到底是誰？」我的人生遇到很大的矛盾。我要選擇加拿大文化還是台灣文化？我到底要讀爸媽要我讀的自然科系還是我真正感興趣的藝術係？我要做一個好的基督徒還是偷懶一下？這所有的一切一直到高三我才搞定。我知道我是誰了。也正是那個時候我終於可以開始享受我的高中生活。

Looking back now, I really want to redo high school once again. If I had known who I was, if I had known that I was gonna go to Emily Carr, if I had known that I had to keep my Taiwanese culture but at the same time absorb the Canadian culture, if I had known that being a good Christian was the way to go, if I had known, then I believe my high school years would have been filled with joy and excitement.
現在回想起來，我真的好想重來一次。要是我起初就知道我是誰，要是我知道我會去讀藝術學院，要是我知道我要保持台灣文化但也要吸收加拿大文化，要是我知道當一個好基督徒就是答案的話，我相信我的國高中生活也可以充滿喜樂、色彩。

Pushed to the limit 挑戰極限

Just about broke down from stress when I first got to this “new place”. I really really have no idea what had went on before we moved in and what the landlord was thinking without even cleaning at all before letting us in. This place was really the dirty of the dirtiest I have ever seen. It was horrifying and extremely uncomfortable. On the first day we move in, this was what we were greeted with, I really cannot stand it. I have no idea how much junk we removed from this house since then. The whole back yard is like a dumpster. It really is ridiculous.

前天剛搬進新家，整個人快瘋掉。真的真的沒有辦法想像屋主之前在做啥，還有房東為什麼沒有檢查過？真的是我看過最最最髒的家。好可怕，超不舒服。第一天搬進來就這樣，真的是受不了。到的第一天，我們從地下室搬出不知道多少垃圾。現在後院整個變成垃圾場。真的真的好可怕。

I will spare you with the details, but we definitely need a lot of prayers. Although upstairs is clean now, there is still so much work that needs to be done down stairs. And if I want to call this place my home, there is still a long way to go. Would you please pray for my “house”. God told me in the summer that he wanted me to be here, but after coming here I really do not know why he wanted me to live in a place that is this sketchy. Why would he want me to live in a place that I would not like from the very beginning? How would I go on with my last year of study? I really wish God’s beauty would really come down into this home.

詳細的不講，(因為這真的會嚇死人）但拜託幫我們禱告。現在樓上雖然已經清乾淨了，但是地下室仍然須要清理。可以說這裡是我家真的還很困難。。。請大家為我們的「家」禱告。暑假的時候神跟我說要我過來住，過來後我真的不知道為什麼神要我住在這麼簡陋的地方。。。為什麼要住在這種搬進來第一天就不喜歡的地方？這叫我怎麼度過我大學最後的一年？主求你告訴我。我也希望這地方可以「美麗」。

Another single! :D This song was actually finished last year. It was recorded, however "recording" was so new to me that there were too many mistakes. So recently I have decided to re-record it and rename it as "Reminiscence". Hope you enjoy this sentimental ballad song.

又另一首單曲！其實一年前就曾經錄過這首韓劇主題曲，但因為當時對錄音還相當陌生，所以拍子完全不對，聲音品質也不好。這次重新錄製，並且重新取名，回憶。一首很像連續劇的悲情配樂。

Every year in the summer albums seems to be coming out one after another. This year is no different. I was able to attain 4 new CDs from my favorite artists. And I must say, they are all very good! Let me tell you a little about them, well, actually one. Since the other ones are all in Mandarin.

每年一到暑假總會有超多的新專輯推出。今年也不例外，一口氣補了四張新CD。不得不說這次的新專輯都很好聽。以下我簡短說一說我的感想吧。

Hillsong United 「A_Cross // the_EARTH: Tear Down The Walls」

Biggest disappointment with this album is, THERE ARE NO LYRICS BOOKLET!!! Yes, fine, I understand their “design consideration” but no booklet is just a big disappointment. Anyways, although there is some disappointment, the album is still excellent. The worship is still top notch and amazing. The lyrics like always is always written so deep yet simple.

今年專輯沒付歌詞本！！非常不爽！雖然我懂他們有「設計理念」考量，但沒有歌詞本真的是大減分。但，雖然有這不滿的地方，歌曲仍然是非常好聽，敬拜仍然一流。歌詞也是按照以往Hillsong風格寫得非常貼切。

讚美之泉「不要放棄 . 滿有能力」

讚美之泉真的是每年都有在進步！今年真的物超所值，CD加DVD。而且這次DVD跟以往不同的是內容有現場敬拜影像！所以等於是CD裡面的歌曲在DVD裡面有似小演唱會的現場錄影！雖然品質仍有待加強，但以這個價錢，真的是很不錯。另外歌曲今年阿，真的是敬拜大突破！整張專輯的敬拜簡直完美。我覺得以敬拜方面來講或許是最棒的一張專輯。大力推薦。

讚美之泉「一生愛你」

鋼琴獨奏專輯總是要去慢慢品嚐的，這張也不例外。感覺曾祥怡的風格比較走敬拜風格。每一首歌都非常長（這我喜歡），好幾首歌都過五分鐘。慢慢品嚐後也是非常好聽的！

范瑋琪「F One」

今年的專輯也很好聽！跟我之前講的一樣，除了最catchy的「1到10=我愛你」和「別再生了」以外其他都要慢慢品嚐。這次專輯我也是非常推薦！

Housing 住處

Yes! Next semester I have a place to live!! It is a huge hassle every year to re-find housing but it is just too expensive to pay the extra 4 summer months for the time that I am away. Unfortunately this year I don’t get to live with my brother again, and there is a challenge that comes with it. This year I am living with 4 other UBC intervarsity students! 5 people in total! That is a lot I think. Although I have lived with a lot of people before (my previous roommates), that time we were all Asians so our cultures matched. This time the combination is quite amazing. We have myself (Taiwanese), 1 Canadian, 1 Sir Lanka, and 2 Canada born Chinese. Truly multicultural eh? I hope we all get along well this coming year despite our differences. : )

下學期終於找到地方可以住了！每年找房子很蠻麻煩，但沒辦法。因為暑假時人不在，不可能就這樣白白的送出兩千多塊吧。今年很可惜沒有和弟弟一起住，不過今年又是一個新的挑戰。今年要跟UBC福音社團的同學一起住。加上我有五位同學。好多人阿！以前雖然也有跟那麼多人住過（伊純、婉婷）但他們畢竟都是亞洲人。這次我們這五位的組合還真有創意阿。有我台灣，本地加拿大，斯里蘭卡（地球上在哪我都不知道），還有兩位其實是中國人，但是ABC。所以。。。文化真的是一通亂。希望我們大家能夠和睦相處阿～

We took this just before we got lost

On Friday evening me and my brother set out on another journey to another camping trip. This time it was at Kananaskis, near Banff. Although I was just camping last week, but this time it was with the young adults group at church so I thought, “lets give camping one more try.”
禮拜五出發，去一個離banff 很近的旅遊景點 Kananaskis 露營。雖然上個禮拜才露營過。。。不過因為這次是跟教會青年小組一起去，所以我想說:「好吧，就再露營一次吧。」

Before arriving the camp site though, there was something cool that happened. Due to the confusing google map directions in the mountains and us for not reading the directions given to us careful, WE GOT LOST. It was already 9PM and we were circling in the mountains for one entire hour. The sun was setting and there was no cell phone reception and we have no idea where to go. Eventually we stopped beside the road and I thought “the only thing we could do now is to pray”. Just when I was finishing with my complaint prayer, a truck pulled up beside us. It was a camp ground staff! A man walked out of the truck and asked us if we were lost! Anyways, long story short, it just happens that the staff knew where our group was and told us the directions!
在抵達營地之前倒是有個很有趣的小故事。由於地圖不清楚，加上我們沒有好好的看教會牧師給我們的指南，於是我們迷路了。當時已經晚上九點，在深山裡整整繞了一個小時不知道該往哪裡去。眼看太陽馬上就要下山，手機又無訊號，最後我們決定在路邊停下，我說:「現在唯一能做的就只有禱告。」結果！！就在我跟上帝抱怨完的下一秒，突然有輛車在我們車旁停下，是營地的員工！有位大叔走下車，來到我們的車邊問我們是否迷路了。反正長話短說，剛好營地員工記得有一群青年人在某某某營地那邊，並且告訴我們方向。

When we were half way up the mountain, the trees all disappeared.
爬到半山腰時突然樹都不見了。

The camp ground was actually pretty nice, except for the washroom (a huge hole with toilets on top) that smelled like none other. But the view there was amazing! And there was a small creek right beside it. So we could hear the creek in the nights.
這次的營地真的還蠻不錯的。雖然，沒有一個正當的廁所（臭得要死的糞坑+馬桶）但風景超美，而且旁邊還有小溪，所以晚上睡覺時都可以聽得到流水聲。

Our family along with another Singaporean family went to this "family camping trip" that was promoted at church. And the little foot previously in the photo are these 2 kids.
I have to say though, camping trip is very tiring..... I guess the I still can't really enjoy the whole experience as much as other people. As for my parents.. ahah don't even mention it. They can't even sleep well at home, how can they sleep in a tent.

話說我在此體會道露營的「辛苦」。真的時活受罪。。。好辛苦。爸媽尤其更是吃不消。他們根本睡不著。。。哈哈

The camp ground was at Sylvan Lake, about a 2 hours drive from Calgary. And around the camp ground there are these amazing get away houses around the lake.
營地位於Sylvan Lake（湖），離卡加利約2小時車程。在營地旁邊有些超漂亮的度假別墅。

We were lucky that the weather was very very nice, almost too nice. The sun was blazing hot and I got the ultimate farmer's tan once again!
很幸運露營的幾天天氣超好（過好。。。。太陽烈到不行）。雖然沒有晒傷，但是因為T shirt的關係，現在只要一把衣服的袖子往上一拉，就可以看到可怕的「黑白配」。超級超級噁心。

After so many months of arranging, the 3 songs are finally done. These 3 songs were all originally from Jing’s Animation. So, I have decided to title the music as “A Bottled Promise”, just like the animation.

我們禱告的心態是什麼？當神一直沒有應許我們的祈求時，我們的心態如何？
What is the mindset of our prayers? When God doesn’t answer our prayers, how do you feel?

看似常有的事，沒被應許的禱告，但是我們很容易就陷入個迷思。我們有時會忘記上帝倒底是阿拉丁神燈還是全能的耶和華。禱告不是許願，上帝不是販賣機。是我們要順服上帝，而不是上帝要順從我的禱告。
Seems like something that happens quite often, unanswered prayers, but it is very easy to fall into the trap. We often forget that God is the almighty God and we perceive him as a genie. Prayers are not wishes. God is not a vending machine. It should be us who should obey God not him who should obey our prayers.

禱告是大能的。碰到困難時禱告是必要的。然而當我們禱告時我們要檢查禱告的心態。當神沒有回應我們的祈求時我們會不會埋怨？
Prayer is powerful. When faced with challenges, prayer is required. However we need to check the mindset of our prayers. When God doesn’t answer our prayers, do we become bitter?

The trap in arts 藝術陷阱

這一兩天藉由我媽的提醒，我發現一件事，我太critical（太愛批評）了。我想由於我們藝術學校要求我們對所有事物都以「批評的角度」去看，於是不知不覺的就帶入生活當中了。我常批評這個餐具沒做好，這個配色沒弄好，這個活動沒搞好，一大堆，生活中有太多東西可以以藝術的觀點去看待。但，這樣的態度在生活中或許不大適合。有的時候或許會得罪人，而且走過頭或許會顯得太傲慢。可以看透每件事物是一件好事，但不當的運用或許會使我們的生活或身邊的人感到不愉快。我想我需要學習如何在適當的時間運用，而在平常的時候我應該學習去看人事物美好的那面。

These a few days mom reminded me of something... I am becoming way too critical. I guess in art schools, students are always asked to look at everything in the arts angle (critical angle) and without knowing it I carried this into my daily life too. I often say things like: this furniture wasn’t designed properly, the colour arrangements are wrong, this event wasn’t organized well, etc. etc. There are so many things in life that can be looked at in an artistic angle. But, I don’t think this is very appropriate in life. Sometimes we will wrong a person, other times when we go overboard, we become full of ourselves. I think being able to look at things critically is great, but inappropriate usage will just make our lives and the people around us unhappy. I need to learn how to use this critical thinking at the appropriate moments and in my daily life i should learn to look at everything in a positive manner.

今天終於可以有機會跟大家一起在教會中帶敬拜了。從來沒有在樂團裡面玩過樂器的我最近跟大家練習真的學到好多。雖然沒有機會彈鋼琴（牧師彈鋼琴，我彈電子琴），但是真的學到不少。沒想到樂團還有這麼多道理。
Today I fianlly get to play in the worship band at church. I have never played in a band before, so these 2 months jamming with everyone has been very helpful for me. Although I don’t get to play the piano (the pastor plays the piano, I play the keyboard), it is still a rewarding experience. I never knew there is so much to learn in playing in a band.

也很感謝牧師讓我在這麼短的時間就願意讓我上台。一年半前上帝跟我說音樂、敬拜，現在終於慢慢有機會把我的天份貢獻出來了。
And I really have to thank the pastor for letting me play even though I haven’t been practicing with them all that long. A year and half ago God told me about music and worship and now I can finally offer some of this gift to everyone.

Pillow 枕頭

他的名字叫「枕頭」因為 1)這隻貓是我們的第一隻寵物，我們不知道如何給寵物取名。還有
2)弟弟非常喜歡枕頭，於是我們給了我們第一隻貓取名為「枕頭」。
His name is “pillow” because, 1) he was our first pet and we didn’t know how to name him.
and 2) my brother loves pillows.

枕頭是朋友家「多餘的貓」。突然一下子多了五隻，於是到到處在問有誰要。至於我和弟弟是如何說服媽媽領養這隻貓的，我倒是完全不記得了。我媽就跟許多台灣媽媽一樣，嫌寵物髒，所以從來沒有答應讓我們養過。「枕頭」是怎麼來的我也不太記得了。
Pillow was one of the 5 kittens that my friend was trying to get rid of. And as to how we convinced my mom to adopt this kitten I have no idea. My mom is the typical Asian mom where she has the belief that pets are not clean. Therefore we have never had a pet. As to how “Pillow” arrived at our house I actually don’t remember anymore.

枕頭小時候有很多很多的趣事，在這裡我也就不多說了。我想故事大概都跟其他寵物的故事大同小異。倒是要說的是，我是我們家最愛「枕頭」的人，可是家裡「枕頭」最討厭的人大概也是我。為什麼勒？我花了非常非常久的時間一直到他不見了後我才知道為什麼。因為我很吵。忘了在哪裡我看過一個聲音分貝排行榜。最高分貝的就是飛機起飛的聲音了。再下來沒幾格就是我最愛的鋼琴。喔，可想而知，我們家的「枕頭」可能已經被我搞到快瘋掉了吧？難怪他最討厭我。對不起阿pillow，我並不知道。
Pillow like many cats had many funny stories, but I will spare you with those stories. Pet stories are more or less the same I find. However I do want to share one thing. The one that loves “pillow” the most is me. Yet, the one that pillow hates the most is probably also me. Why? I didn’t know either. I spent a lot of time thinking why he would hate me until he had already disappeared; I finally realized why. I forgot where I saw it, but it was a chart of the noise level of things in daily life. The first of course is the plane taking off. And the second one just a few notches below is my favorite toy, the piano. Oh perfect. I can’t imagine how mad pillow must have been every time I play. Sorry, Pillow! I didn’t know.

pillow不在了。上個暑假某一天出去玩後就再也沒有回來了。我很感嘆我沒有看到他是怎麼死的。因為看到我大概會大哭，然後難過好久。pillow不見後我還沒有哭過，也沒有說真正難過過。我也不大清楚為什麼。我很感嘆枕頭在我的回憶裡永遠是健康活潑的一隻貓。我曾經有問過上帝「寵物會不會上天國呢？」我好希望我和枕頭哪天也可以在天國那邊碰面。
Pillow is not around anymore. Last summer he went out one evening and never came back. I am glad that I didn’t see how he died. If I had seen the scene I will probably cry like a baby and be sad for a long long time. After Pillow left I haven’t dropped a tear or got upset. I don’t know why. I am just glad that in my memory, Pillow will always be that perfect cat that is young and active. I have asked God, do pets also go to heaven? Oh, I would long for a day to meet Pillow once again in heaven.

Dreams 夢想

最近一直在思考我的夢想。什麼是好的夢想？什麼是應該追求的夢想？
These a few days the topic of “dreams” keeps coming to my mind. I start to have questions like: What is a good dream? or What kind of a dream is worth pursuing?

小時候我有好多夢想: 夢想成為頂尖的設計師，夢想有很棒的工作，夢想有漂亮的辦公室。但最近我感覺。。。這些夢想是為了什麼。為了有更多錢？為了奢華的生活？為了名氣？還是只是為了自我滿足？
When I was little I had many dreams. I dream to become the top designer. I dream to have an amazing job. I dream to have a nice office. But recently I started asking myself, what is the reason for all these dreams. So I can be rich? So I can live an extravagant life? So I can have some reputation? Or is it simply to just have some satisfaction?

上大學的三年來我慢慢的體會到，世界上有比錢更重要的東西，有比名氣更重要的東西。雖然一下子要改變這些夢想不簡單。。。但現在的我認為可以快快樂樂的生活是一件非常幸福的事。純普的生活沒有關係，可以以微笑去面對一切事物是最重要的。不去羨慕奢華的生活，不需要事物來滿足自己，如果可以這樣的話，應該是很棒的夢想。
These 3 years in university I have come to the realization that there are things more important than money. There are things more important than a reputation. Although I can’t change the way I used to think about dreams that easily, I have found that if I can embrace everything in life with a joyful heart, then that is plenty already. It’s ok if it’s a simple life, the most important is that I can live everyday in joy, that I don’t envy an extravagant life, that I won’t need materials to satisfy myself. I think then this would be a great dream worth pursuing.

今天在教會唱了這首好久沒聽到的超好聽的歌曲！整個教會high到快瘋掉。（我們教會超多超high的黑人，超喜歡他們的）記得第一次唱這首歌的時候是參加校園福音事工全國冬令會的時候唱的。當時就覺得，哇好動感，但是一直不知道歌名，在溫哥華的教會好像也沒有很流行這首歌，所以今天終於知道這首歌的名字了。好聽阿！沒聽過的聽聽吧。這是原作者的版本喔。

We sang this song for worship at church today!! The church just about went crazy for this song. It was just that upbeat and amazing. We also have a lot of Africans at church and I have to tell you, man they are so good at worship. They are just amazing. I remember the first time that I heard this song was with the campus ministry national wide winter conference. I loved the song! but never got to know the name of the song and Vancouver’s churches have never sang this song so I never caught the name until today. Such a great song. One of the most upbeat worship music I think. If you haven’t heard it give it a try! This is the original version by the song writer.

re: hardest lesson yet

Thanks so much everyone for praying. After sending out that prayer request, my good friend from montreal sent me a great testimony which spoke to me very much. And I was able to understand and be at peace with my current situation. Thanks everyone so much.
真的要感謝各位為我禱告。送出代禱信的當天，我一位在滿地可（montreal）的好友傳了一個影片給我。影片的內容跟我在經歷的事情有點相關，看完後我終於可以了解也可以以平常心去面對我的狀況。謝謝大家！

At the moment I believe I should just continue to rely on God and really take this lesson to heart and complete this challenge that God has given me. So, I will let this job thing go. If it comes, let it come, if not it’s ok.

Hardest lesson yet

sorry for burdening you with this struggle that I have came across this month, but I really feel I need lots of prayer for this.

As some of you know, I go home (calgary) in the summer to make money. Last year I was very lucky enough to be able to earn enough money for my tuition plus a little extra. This year, due to my dad’s job loss, I came home extra early, knowing that my parents would probably feel more at ease because I am looking for work earlier.

Today is May 28th and i came home April 18th; I am not working yet. I have been desperately searching for work ever since coming home. Surprisingly the previous place that I have worked didn’t want me back. So 2 weeks into my stay at home I have started really asking God what is going on. And I believe this time he wants me to really trust his plans are the best plans, even though it doesn’t seem like it in my eyes.

AND my biggest struggle is that I can’t seem to trust him. I can’t understand how being jobless is the best plan that he has got for me. These days I am super anxious. My mind keeps thinking about the jobs that I applied for. On top of that due to my dad’s job loss, our family atmosphere can get a little tense. It is very hard some times to face my parents because of what they might bring up again. It adds a lot of pressure.

Having struggled for a month, I have come to realization that I need prayers. I felt like I haven’t improved at all in this challenge God has given me. I still ask why all the time and I can’t seem to surrender.

So God, would you really help Andrew. Help him to believe that you are in control. How many times have you failed andrew? none, zero. there are no chances. God, would you help Andrew to believe that all the time. Your ways are higher, your thoughts are higher and greater than Andrew’s. Hold him tight during this time and let him leave his burdens to you. in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

現在主要工作是在幫爸爸的自創公司做形象設計。目前做了名片，專業目錄，還有第一次嘗試設計網頁。我的天啊，網頁設計真的是不簡單。跟其他同樣Adobe軟體的使用方式完全不同。加油勒！
One of my main jobs these a few weeks is to design the cooperate identity for my dad’s own consulting company. So far I have designed a business card, a brochure and for my first time a website. Web design is very hard! I can’t believe it. It is totally different than the other Adobe software.

另一個非常想要完成但一直都沒有時間的就是我的音樂創作。上次的動畫音樂另外延伸出了三首曲子。目前已經錄完了一首，還有兩首需要完成。但因為在家裡錄音為了避免雜音，必須要家裡沒人的時候才可錄音。所以，現在我就一直在等家裡沒人的時候。。。但不知道這一等要等多久。
Another thing that I have been really wanting to work on is my music recordings. From the Animation music last time, I have branched out 3 new songs. So far I have recorded 1 song so still 2 more to go. Because I am recording at home, I need to make sure that no one is home other wise it gets way too noisy. So now I am just waiting... waiting for a home alone day. Although I don’t know how long I would have to wait.

信仰方面上帝給我一個很難的功課（困難中也相信上帝掌權）。
Faith wise, God has given me quite a hard lesson at the moment, trusting God is in control even though it is a difficult time.

另外勒，我現在有在參加教會的青年小組 + 敬拜團。青年小組現在還比較陌生，希望可以慢慢的認識多一點的朋友。敬拜團呢，每個禮拜有去他們的練習，雖然練習時只能彈幾首歌，但總得有個開始吧？
I have also joined the young adults group at church + the worship team. Right now I am still unfamiliar with everyone at the young adults group, but I hope I can get to know someone soon. As for the worship team, I am attending their worship practice every week, although I could only play a few songs, at least there is a start.

痞子英雄？

這一年來台灣電影界好像正在「甦醒」中。從帶動潮流的「海角七號」再來「冏男孩」到最近的「光陰的故事」以及現在我認為很有看頭的「痞子英雄」，台灣的電影界終於漸漸的脫離了可怕的「偶像劇魔咒」。

目前我人在痞子英雄的第六集。雖然說故事沒有那麼創新，演員也演的沒好到哪裡去，但是必須要說這齣連續劇的場景真的是拍的非常有質感。第一次看到開場片段在播的時候就大吃一驚，心想:「天啊，台灣什麼時候也拍的這麼好？」音樂也很好聽！拿給弟弟還有爸媽看的時候都聽到他們說，「這是台灣拍的嗎？」哈哈哈，好高興。

目前人在第六集，劇情現在有點使我擔心。。。所以必須看下一集才可決定這是否是一部值得看完的連續劇。（千萬不要向我想像中的那樣編阿！那樣會毀掉一切！）

Jobless!! 失業中！

我的天啊，真的是景氣到不行。卡加利完全沒有人在募集！從回來後就一直到處找工作，到處發履歷表。。。結果到現在都還沒有任何結果。就連去年打工的溫室都沒回音。。。嗚嗚怎麼辦？！！？誰趕快來聘我阿！

These a few weeks I just realized how bad the economy actually is. There is no one hiring in Calgary! Ever since I came back I started looking already. I sent resumes every where, but there are no replies.... Even the place that I worked last year didn’t want me back.... (ahhhhhh!!) What to do now? Some body hire me quick!!

A box of treats 零嘴的感動

今天早上剛收到去年室友從台灣寄來的大包裹！天啊！！好感動！！好大一箱的零食阿！伊純！太感謝你了。伊純真的是太客氣了，這麼大一箱，郵費和買這些東西的價格相信一定不低！這麼多我可以吃上一整年吧？哈哈哈伊純，你好會挑，幾乎全部都是加拿大買不到的零食。
This morning I received this massive parcel sent from Taiwan from my roommate last year! I am so touched! The entire box is filled with treats! Treats that cannot be bought here. Yi Tsun is just so kind! This parcel must have cost her quite a lot to mail and not to mention the treats inside. All these could probably last me a year eh?

看到裡面的零食，使我想起了小時候的回憶。七七乳加巧克力，乖乖，還有從來不知道叫做「大豬公」的零食。看到大豬公，突然回想到小學三年級時，在放學回家路過的雜貨店偷買零嘴的回憶。現在在吃的這包「乖乖玉米脆果」，雖然是新的口味，但是讓我想起小時候吃的「椰奶口味乖乖」（說不定是一樣的東西？）哇，一大箱的回憶，一大箱的感動！
Young Taiwanese (some older as well), has a culture of eating small treats. The variety of treats here in Canada cannot even compare to the varieties that Taiwan has. So this parcel is like heaven to me. As I was opening the parcel and looking through each treat, memories of childhood started coming back to me. Thank you so much Yi Tsun! This is a huge gift to me!

Where is Spring Calgary? 卡加利的春天勒?

前幾天卡加利才下過雪！最近氣溫都在零度左右。在facebook上面看到好多在溫哥華的朋友們已經秀出溫哥華綠油油的風景照了。卡加利怎麼會這樣勒！？已經要五月了耶！我的春天跑哪去了？！

It just snowed a few days ago in Calgary! Right now the temperature is usually around 0 degrees. I have seen many pictures on facebook from friends that are in Vancouver. Green! Vancouver is green already! What happened to Calgary?! It’s almost May! Where did you go spring?

3rd Year, 2nd half 三年級下學期

想像感覺，這是這學期一直在學習的功課。三年級下學期上了一堂專注於「展覽設計」的設計課。由於從未接觸過「展覽設計」所以想試一試，沒想到結果不堪設想。想像「感覺」耶！感覺要怎麼想像！？學期過了大半，我發現展覽設計應該算是「感官設計」。在這門課常常我都需要問自己：這種形狀會給人什麼感覺？這顏色是什麼感覺？這空間是什麼感覺？一大串關於「感覺」的考量。現在學期結束了，有進步嗎？我想有吧？可是應該算是微小的進步。
Picturing a feeling, this is what I have been learning for this past semester. In my second semester of my third year, I decided to take this “exhibition” design course because I have never dealt with it before. So I thought I would give it a try. And, to my surprise, I realized that I cannot do exhibition design. Picturing a feeling in my head! how can you imagine a feeling!? Half a semester had gone by, it was then I realized that exhibition design is about “experience design”. Very often in this course, I have to ask myself: What does this shape convey? What does this colour feel like? What does this space feel like? Many many questions considering the senses. Now that the semester has ended, did I learn? Yes, I did, but I think I improved very little.

除了這堂課以外，我倒是很喜歡我其他兩堂課。其中最喜歡的大概是「設計繪畫課」。在這堂課真的學到好多繪畫技巧。雖然老師嚴厲，心情起伏非常大，但是現在手畫出來的素描，真的不一樣了。感謝這位老師，希望他能夠繼續如此用心的教導他的學生。
Aside from this class, I really enjoy my other 2 classes. My favorite one is probably the design drawing class. I have learned so much on drawing. Although the teacher is quite strict and emotionally unstable, my drawings have really improved. I really thank this teacher for putting so much effort into this class.

三年級快速的但是充實的度過了。轉眼之間明年即將要四年級，就要畢業了。加油吧！
Third year passed quickly but it was very fruitful. Fourth year is just around the corner, then it is graduation, hang on!

Recording! 錄音！

今天我們終於可以錄「靜」的動畫背景音樂啦！今天早上十一點抵達Tim 家開始錄音。搞到下午大約三點半才正式結束。特別感謝Matthew，幫忙開車，載我的鋼琴，還有照相; 感謝Tim 教我們如何錄音、用器材; 還有感謝靜協助我錄音。第一次用正式的器材來錄音，很興奮。雖然才短短五分鐘不到的音樂我們搞了將近五小時，不過還是很喜樂，過程也很滿意。

We were recording the music for Jing’s animation today! We arrived at Tim’s place around 11AM, started recording and went on until 3:30PM. Special thanks to Matthew who drove us, transported my piano over and took pictures; thanks to Tim who taught us how to record and let us use his space+equipments; and of course Jing for assisting me while we were recording. This was my first time recording using proper equipment, so I was really excited. Although a song less than 5 minutes took us around 4.5 hours to finish, I am still quite happy and it was an enjoyable process.

Bubbles + tea 當珍珠遇上茶

好啦，終於做完啦。這就是之前提過的功課。
Finally! It is finished! This was the project that I have mentioned a while back.

簡單介紹一下吧。到底如何「展覽」珍珠奶茶。根據班上簡單的調查，我和組員驚訝的發現，竟然有不少人沒喝過。班上的同學也完全不了解珍珠奶茶的食材到底有些什麼。於是了解製作過程變成了我們主要的設計理念。展覽的主要頭銜就是可以讓參與者DIY製作珍珠奶茶。

So, I will introduce this project briefly, "what exactly is this exhibition about?" According to our class, we were extremely surprised to find that there are still many who have not had the chance to try bubble tea yet. The classmates also did not know what ingredients are put into it either. So, we have decided to focus our design intention on the "process" of making the bubble tea. The catch of this exhibition is to let the audience have a chance to make a cup of bubble tea yourself.

我們選了珍珠奶茶表達的幾種顏色作為主要色。DIY的「攤販」也以仿奶茶茶杯的作法來表達。
We chose a few colours that reminded us of bubble tea as our main colours. The design driver for the "Do it yourself" stations were also to imitate a bubble tea cup.

Reflections 複雜心情

一個學期，四個月轉眼之間的飛過。飛的好快，感覺都還來不及去思考一切所發生的事一下子就要到學期末了。這四個月真的發生好多事，課業上的事，生活上的事，屬靈（信仰）上的事，好事，壞事很多。好在有神，我才能堅持到現在。我為此獻上感謝。但同時，我這幾天也一直在做回卡加利的白日夢。我在期待一個改變，不是因為這四個月煩了，不開心了，而是或許電池耗光了。我想回家，一個不同的環境充電。
One semester, four months, flew by. It flew by so fast that I couldn’t even stop and think over each event but only to find that I am at the end of the semester already. These four months, many things have happened, things in school, things in life, things in my spiritual life, good things, bad things, a lot. Thank God, there is God, so I can endure until now. I am really thankful for that. But at the same time I have also started day dreaming about me going back home to calgary these days already. I long for a change, not because these four months has been horrible or unhappy, but maybe because my battery have just ran out of juice. I want to go home, to be charged again in a different environment.

但就在我今天晚上從校園社團回家的路上，突然的我心中又冒出了那不捨得的念頭。今天晚上是這學年的最後一天聚會。或許是大家都知道吧，今天來了許多好久不見的好友。大家玩的非常開心。沒想到就這樣見個幾小時的面，下次就不知道什麼時候才能再碰頭了。有些同學要畢業阿。畢業後的大家就東跑西散，能再次碰面的機會不大。
BUT tonight as I was going home from our Christian Community dinner at school, thoughts of leaving my friends start popping up. Tonight was our last session for this school year. Perhaps people knew about it, so we saw many long time no see friends today. We had so much fun tonight only to realize again that we have no idea when would we meet next time. Some friends are graduating. After graduation people disappear across the entire globe, the chances of seeing one another is minute.

阿～好複雜的心情。想走，又不捨得。剩最後兩個禮拜就要飛了，好好利用這剩下的幾天吧。
Ah~ what a complicated mood I have right now. I want to leave, but I am unwilling. There are only two more weeks before I fly; I should use my time wisely for the remaining days.

Insect + robot 機械昆蟲

這就是上次繪畫課做的「機械昆蟲」啦。仍有可以進步的地方啦，如: 關節可以更機械化，更清楚等。雖然跟班上的同學比起來我的或許不算那麼好，不過我已經對我的成果相當驕傲了。沒有想到我也可以畫的出來呢。我以前都一直認為我不會畫「有生命」的東西，如今我似乎也可以了。 :D

So this was the drawing project that I was talking about, "insect + machine". There are still lots of room for improvements, for example, making the joints more machine like etc, but I am quite proud of myself already. Although my drawing isn't that good compared to my classmates', I am still quite satisfied with my result. I have always thought that I can't draw things that is "alive", but now maybe I can.

"RYTHEM"

年輕的日本女子雙人組, RYTHEM。作曲填詞以及vocal編曲都由兩人包辦。會唱歌又會彈樂器，還會作詞作曲，甚至編曲，這真是不簡單阿。日本的歌手都這麼有實力嗎？在北美這邊也是非常類似。一位歌手，必須會作詞作曲，而且還一定要會唱歌。在北美這裡，要當歌手也是不簡單的事阿。。。

A not so well known Japanese singer and song writer group, RYTHEM. I really like how they arrange their vocals, amazing arrangements. What you have to know about the music industry of where I come from, Taiwan, is that a lot of the "singers" cannot compose or write. Very few actually write their own music and many can’t even sing properly. Most of the singers get their songs from “song writers”. So when I first heard that the Japanese actually write their own stuff, I was quite amazed.

Drawing Critique 繪畫課講評

昨天完成了我們繪畫課其中的一項作品，「機械昆蟲」的師生講評。
不知道以前有沒有說過，不過每當我們在學校完成一項作品時，在交作業的當天都會有全體師生的講評。
Yesterday was our critique session for our drawing assignment, half insect half machine. I don’t know if i have mentioned before, but at an art school, when a project is finished, on the day that is due, there will always be a critique involving students and teachers.

學生會把作品貼在牆上，然後作者會解釋設計理念阿等等。

The students would put their work on the wall

and the creator would explain the approach of the project.

再來就是老師和學生講評以及發表意見。

Then it is the teacher’s and student’s turn to give comments and critique.

Recently we have started our final project at school. We are designing an exhibition for “Bubble tea”! Oh, I miss it so much! I always restrain myself from drinking one here in Canada because it is just way too expensive. 3.75 for 1 cup!? Back in Taiwan I can almost get 4 cups with that money....
最近設計課已開始我們這學期的最後一項作品。我們這次要為「珍珠奶茶」設計一個展覽～好想念台灣的珍珠奶茶阿！！在加拿大我真的要控制自己不能亂喝。因為這邊一杯要台幣將近100元台幣！天啊！台灣一杯大約三十元嘛？三倍耶！所以每次看到都很想喝，但就是買不下手。

Did you know that bubble tea comes from Taiwan?
設計的最初功課勒，就是找尋相關資料。
身為台灣人的我們應該都很清楚珍珠奶茶怎麼來的吧？以下的我就不翻譯了。

It is said that Han Jie Liu (劉漢介) first started experimenting with milk tea and fruit flavors in 1983, in Taiwan.

In late 1990s, tea shops started introducing the vacuum seal-like packaging for the bubble tea cups.

At the same time, bubble tea started being sold as a grab and go drink.

Bubble tea, is milk tea with tapioca (starch).

There are different flavors that one can add into the drink, such as various fruit flavors or unusual sweets like pudding.

One of the reasons for the vacuum sealed cup is so that the drinks can be stacked.

Bubble tea can be drank hot or cold. (cold being the more popular choice)

A cup of bubble tea in Taiwan is around 30 New Taiwanese dollars, which is around 1 Canadian dollar.

最近看了一部新電影，鷹眼。（好看，具有娛樂效果）看完影片後不僅讓我聯想到網際網路。
Recently I saw the movie “Eagle Eye” (good movie, very entertaining). And, after watching the movie, it really got me thinking about the excessive use of internet we have today.

記得上年暑假我和弟弟人在卡加利在網路上找溫哥華的房子。看著網頁我們發現一間離我學校超近的房子，價錢又便宜，於是馬上寫email過去詢問。一切都非常順利，就到後來說到要通電話的那封email時對方突然說他們已經出國，所以無法通電話，又說要我們立刻匯訂金過去。於是弟弟馬上就認為不對勁，我也認為這絕對有問題。就在我們一直猶豫到底該如何時，我上谷歌查了他們張貼的email以及電話。果然不錯，在另一個相同的出租網站找到相同的電話號碼，但是名字並不符合。一個寫Ms. A，另一個寫Ms. B。詳細的我不是記的太清楚，我只記得我跟弟弟說打電話到這家出租網站上問這Ms. B的資料。
I remembered last summer me and my brother were in Calgary looking for housing online in Vancouver. As we were searching through posts and posts, we found an apartment that was very close to my school and had a very nice rent. So we immediately emailed them and asked about the details. Everything went smoothly until when we asked for a phone call. They said they have left the country and also asked us just to transfer the deposit to their account. My brother thought something was wrong right away and told me about it. I also thought this must be some sort of a scam and wanting to be sure, I went online and punched in the phone number as well as the email. And without a doubt, the searches came up which led to another rental site, however the name shown there was not the same. (One was Ms. A, the other Ms. B) I don’t remember the detail so clearly now, but I remembered I asked my brother to phone the rental site and asked for some information about the landlord.

總而言之網路現在真的是很可怕。網路上可以查到大家的資料。尤其現在網路出現許多社交網站，部落格，還樣狀況更新網，我們做的每件事就這樣大大方方的對全世界公開。
Anyways, I just find it very scary. One can find so much information about one person, especially when there are facebooks, blogs and twitter. Everything that we put on there just goes out freely to the entire world!

我是不是應該把我的facebook帳號停掉阿？
